Report: Jan. 6 Panel Aides Traveled To Copenhagen To View Footage Of Roger Stone

Sorry, sir, there is no smoking at this execution.

“Aides to the committee reportedly viewed parts of more than 170 hours-worth of footage by a Danish documentary crew led by Christoffer Guldbrandsen, which is also known as “The Ark.”” What is it that is known as the ark? Mr. Guldbrandsen? The Danish documentary crew? The 170 hours-worth of footage?

In a statement to Politico, Stone said committee investigators may find the documentary film footage “entertaining,” but insisted they will “find no evidence of wrongdoing.”

I wouldn’t trust Roger Stone as far I could throw him down a well.

Stone must have thought it was Opposite Day.

From the Politico story:

The select panel aides viewed portions of more than 170 hours filmed by a Danish documentary crew led by Christoffer Guldbrandsen. That team, known as The Ark, tracked Stone for long stretches of time over two years — including on Jan. 6, 2021, as a mob swarmed the Capitol in an effort to keep Trump in power.

Hi, he was charged with offenses arising out of the Mueller investigation (specifically, one count of obstructing an official proceeding, five counts of making false statements, and one count of corruptly attempting to influence a witness’s testimony; the indictment is here:

download (justice.gov):

After Stone was convicted on all counts (and some memorable maneuverings in connection with the sentencing) Trump first commuted his sentence, then in December 2020 gave him a full pardon, but that was for these offenses; the pardon doesn’t immunize Stone from prosecution for future, unrelated offenses (otherwise, a pardon would be a very valuable thing to have, right?).

Thank you! I found that really confusing…

How many days until Christmas? Stone indicted and convicted and tied up with a big red bow would be a fine present on one of the days leading up to the big day.

Excerpts

Police in Canada are investigating the “brazen” heist of a famed Sir Winston Churchill portrait after the original photograph was mysteriously swapped for a fake.

Last week, an employee at the Château Laurier hotel in Ottawa, noticed something amiss with a portrait known as the “Roaring Lion” which was taken after the wartime leader addressed the Canadian parliament in 1941.

The frame on the photograph didn’t match the other five portraits in the room, all of which had been taken by the acclaimed Canadian-Armenian portraitist Yousuf Karsh, whose subjects included Martin Luther King Jr, Albert Einstein, Ernest Hemingway and Queen Elizabeth II.

———————————————

Karsh recalled Churchill lighting a fresh cigar, puffing it “with a mischievous air” and then relenting to allow a single photograph.

“I went back to my camera and made sure that everything was all right technically. I waited; he continued to chomp vigorously at his cigar. I waited. Then I stepped toward him and, without premeditation, but ever so respectfully, I said, ‘Forgive me, sir,’ and plucked the cigar out of his mouth. By the time I got back to my camera, he looked so belligerent he could have devoured me. It was at that instant that I took the photograph.”

Got,to,spend a week there on business with UNICEF. Took daughter with, since it was summer. Final night was a trip to Tivoli. Project manager was a delightful young German, who insisted (under my watchful eye) on teaching her how to drink like a European.

During my work day, she was old enough to walk around in her own. One of the lesser palaces was down the street and we were a short distance from the real Little Mermaid statue - the movie/cartoon had recently been released.

Big tour while there was a bus tour which spent a fair amount of time at Elsinore.

Oh and being there in the summer gave us daylight until 11p, which just surprised her immensely.

Good times!!

Any objection, just to be sure?

I also spent my last night in Copenhagen at the Tivoli Gardens and in the company of a highly placed government official, minister of arts or culture or something whom paparazzi swarmed to.

Sorry, if Roger Stone had been at Bastogne, the guys in Easy Company would have worked him over, then shoved him in amongst the Nazi prisoners, where I would have expected even they would have been repulsed enough to further beat the crap out of him…
