I wonder if Biden’s commitment to letting the DOJ operate independently may end up putting him in an Abraham and Isaac situation regarding his son’s involvement with Burisma. I hope not, because it would be a form of “selective prosecution” in the sense that padding corporate boards with influence-adjacent members happens everywhere, and the only reason Burisma stands out is GOP dirty tricks.
Lobbying firms by law should register when they work in the interests of foreign governments. And finally the DOJ appears to be enforcing this rule.
Lobbying is paid access to our government, often a kind of grey or even dark money in politics. It is the least the DOJ can do is enforce the few rules we have for transparency.
I would note that this is the kind of thing that in the general Democrats do not put up with Democrats doing, unlike the other guys where it is all good.
My memory cells very busy with a Karen Tramontano.and John Podesta’s daughter connection She was involved in controversy over fraud allegations while working for Burisma - when the Russians were heavily involved in Trump/Clinton election battle.
Sounds wacky but I think I can say anything I want, using the Trump “I’m crazy” defense. Right?
He needs to sue both the School and the Federalist Fraud-eralist Society under the Leonard Law. The only thing that stops these b*stards is when you hit them in the pocket book.
Good to hear the DOJ was able to find Democratic lobbying violators. With all the indictments and convictions of Republicans in the last two years I just knew one of these years, sooner or later, a D would finally return to the ranks of shame.
I can’t get too worked up about this. The Manafort business model is bad for the country no matter who the principals write the donation checks to or which administration they built their Rolodex in
