Officials at the Department of Homeland Security were reportedly instructed to describe Kyle Rittenhouse, the 17-year-old who has been charged with murder after the fatal shooting of two protesters in Kenosha, Wisconsin, in a sympathetic light.
As a citizen of Wisconsin, let me say this sympathetically.
Kyle Rittenhouse and his mother drove out of state from Antioch, Illinois to Kenosha, WI. They brought their guns with them. During the course of the evening Kyle shot at least three people, two of which were dead on the scene. Kyle’s mother is worried about Kyle. She should be, given that she is an accessory to assault and murder. Kyle longs to be a policeman and protect the community.
The above is how you write sympathetically. If I were to have written without sympathy, I would present only the facts as follows:
Kyle Rittenhouser and his mother violated state boundaries, drove to Kenosha, Wisconsin, stuck their noses into ongoing social unrest due to police brutality, and ended up shooting at least three people, killing two, with an assault rifle. Murder. Kyle wants to be a cop.
Other than adding the entire trump clan to the do-not-fly list and ordering the seizure of their passports, disbanding DHS should be pretty fucking high on that day 1 thing.
He can skip the parade, just swear in and grab a quick helicopter flight over to get to work.
