The explosion of threats against lawmakers has gotten so extreme that some are reaching into their own wallets to ensure their safety, according to the Washington Post.
But itâs too early for a slanted 1/6 Commission which was negotiated by a Republican at the direction of Republican leaders that meets all their initially requested conditions (except a foregone conclusion and the refusal to examine, you know, evidence) and which absolutely must complete its work and issue its findings within 7 months exonerating the former reality TV show host and all Republicans and establishing that the whole riot and insurrection thing was a mirage and is the fault of antifa and Democrats, proving that Democrats are just over-reacting and are at no risk at all and that masks were never necessary.
["Two weeks ago, the U.S. Capitol Police reported that there was a staggering 107% hike in threats against congressional lawmakers this year from 2020 â and that the agency expects it to only get worse.
âProvided the unique threat environment we currently live in, the Department is confident the number of cases will continue to increase,â the Capitol police said in a statement at the time.
The threats come as legislators continue to grapple with the failure of federal agencies and law enforcement to fend off the mob of Trump supporters who breached the Capitol on Jan. 6 out of fury toward Congress for certifying the 2020 election results."]
The above is a disgraceful state of affairs and is at least as dangerous as the Cold War crises of yesteryear.
The fact that it is not described as such is equally dangerous.
Just l like the AZ Republican Party should have to pay for new voting machines for Maricopa County (and no they shouldnât be allowed to get anywhere near the selection process), then the GOP should pony up for security expenses.
Qevin canât control his idiots, and I donât think Mitch wants to help out with that.
âProvided the unique threat environment we currently live in, the Department is confident the number of cases will continue to increase,â the Capitol police said in a statement at the time.
If only there were a panacea for the insanity and corruption that is one partyâs stock in trade. This rock-throwing culture started with Gingrich in the 1990s. Trump and his acolytes amplify it today. If only there were a way to undo the sepsis injected into our body politic from three decades ago.
I want everyone of these mfkers found, arrested, jailed for a long time. MAKE them get attorneys. Bankrupt them. Embarrass them and their families. I am mad as hell and sick of taking it any longer. This is not âfree speechâ or whichever âfreedomâ they are try to hide behind.
When I read this this morning all I could think of is âwill my Congresswoman come home and finally hold a townhallâ? I mean if the national news is reporting all the threats are towards Dem politicians then my Congresswoman should feel safe after 8 years of not holding a single one.
We can stop this easily, but there are too many ordinary, nameless, faceless, stodgy and even amiable men collecting paychecks by working for bland-sounding organizations whose aim is to destroy this Republic.
They give their wives a peck on the cheek, say âIâll be home by 7â and go off to do their Work.
Itâs past time to classify people and organizations that make these death threats as domestic terrorists and take strong but appropriate measures to end it. Or shall we wait for another national elected representative to be shot down? Stick 'em in Gitmo for all I care.
My Dem congressman held a telephone town hall last week. I tried going to in person meetings of his the past several years (pre Covid), but stopped probably in 2018 or 2019, after feeling extremely unsafe. Trump supporters were allowed to âdemonstrateâ (behave aggressively and disrupt) right inside the auditorium where the meeting was being held. It wasnât long before a shoving match started, and thanks to my healthy paranoia, I walked out right then and there. And then emailed the congressmanâs office explaining that they needed to get their security sât together because this was no joke.
with intent to impede, intimidate, or interfere with such official, judge, or law enforcement officer while engaged in the performance of official duties, or with intent to retaliate against such official, judge, or law enforcement officer on account of the performance of official duties, shall be punished as provided in subsection (b).

So yeah, it does seem that people might start considering investigation and enforcement.
What you are describing is what my Congresswomanâs supporters claim will happen, but since sheâs never held one-for 8 years, then I call BS. As for the telle town halls I listened in on a few. Theyâre not announced, she conducts them at strange hours, and the 2 or 3 times that I participated in it was because I just happened to pick up the home phone.
During the telle town halls they screen the callers, she doesnât answer any questions or talk about any issue that arenât on the Republican agenda. And she wonât, or canât articulate the Republican agenda.
If you were a CIA analyst and you read this report about a particular country, what would you write in your analysis about that nation and itâs future? I remember when we would lecture other countries, and still do, about this sad state of affairs.
Not much unless the bullets start flying regularly. Other places, like russia, dissidents jump out of tall buildings or have other accidents, and theyâve largely squashed opposition parties.
Plenty of threats are regularly made, itâs all about the relative severity vs. people just being assholes with no real intent or capability to pull something off.
I remember when I first heard the phrase âsecond amendment solutionsâ from Sharron Angle running against Harry Reid in 2011 and what a chill it sent down my spine. At the same time Gabby Giffords was catastrophically injured by a gun wielding maniac and it came out that Palin had been posting pictures of Democrats with targets pasted over them.
Considering the ease with which the unstable can get guns and the vile rhetoric that is being bought and paid for by the conservative elite and pumped into the news 24 hours a day, the only surprises here are that it is not much worse.
