Now watch Netanyahu cry all the way to the bank, where he will deposit another three billion dollars of US military assistance, part of which will be to used to fight those evil Palestinian grandmothers.

And nice job raising her profile and bringing MORE attention to BDS.

and BAM just like that she has demonstrated that she is one of a number of House Dems who are six times better as strategic thinkers than Fat Don and his group of (internal and external) clownish enablers.

Nobody has been more supportive of Israel on this website over the past decade-plus than I have been, and I think Josh would agree with that assessment. But I am disgusted, again, as I have frequently been disgusted. since Trump became president. I don’t blame Rep.Tlaib, whom I have been critical of in the past, for her decision to reject Israel’s offer. How condescending at the threshold to offer a “humanitarian gesture” to an American congresswomen, consisting of special permission from the State of Israel to visit her 90 year-old grandma. Just disgraceful.

And one more thing–Bibi doesn’t get off the hook on this one. He’s been around the block and could’ve told Trump to butt out. And he chose not to.

I would have no issue with Tlaib if she had decided to go due to regard for her family. But this is a powerful statement and sacrifice, revealing just how shallow, small and petty Trump and Netanyahu are. It’s too bad they actually have no capability of feeling shame.

“Silencing me & treating me like a criminal is not what she wants for me. It would kill a piece of me. I have decided that visiting my grandmother under these oppressive conditions stands against everything I believe in–fighting against racism, oppression & injustice.”

She is at peace with her decision, her family in Palestine did not want her visit as it was being offered by Israel.Good for her,and her family. Trump and Bibi look even smaller today.

The Israelis know they’re alienating American Jews. What the state is doing now is suicidally short-sighted. I just read an essay about this where the author said American Jews should emigrate to Israel and change it from within. Good luck with that, pal.

This was a very tough decision to make.

She risks never seeing her Grandmother again, but her visit would probably been turned into some sort of dog and pony propaganda event “showing” how kind Netanyahu was to let her visit - full of claims she could not counter because of the letter she would be forced to sign.

I hope she will be able to visit her Grandmother in the near future without these restrictions.

Good for her! I do hope she gets the opportunity to see her grandmother in the future as I understand she’s ill. However, she’s right not to let her family be used as a political sledge hammer or propaganda opportunity (for Bibi)

“love for her grandmother to be co-opted as a “political bargaining chip””

This is becoming a common tool for the despotic set. The internment and separation of the immigrant families is a cornerstone for the Trump admin. The thumbs up with the now orphan child is another example. I can stretch this out to McConnel, Rusal and the Kentucky families benefiting from Rusal’s investment only to become economic hostages. Promises to coal miners to improve their circumstances. From the individual to the public at large, Trump, the Republicans and their backers are willing to play tiddly winks with families.

The Democrats would do well if they caught that as a central theme and piled it on the heads of the Republicans. The campaign ads basically write themselves.

There has been plenty to be disgusted about long before Trump became president. Albert Einstein wrote a letter to the NYT concerning Israel’s right-wing party ( Freedom Party) which has been swallowed whole by the Likud party. Much like the Dixiecrats were swallowed by the Republican party. Israel is still trending more to right every year. The youth of Israel will not save them because for the most part they are mostly right-wingers also. That’s not my opinion. I’ve read it from sources that would know.
Anyway, here’s Einstein’s letter:

It’s almost as if Rep. Tlaib’s grandmother is in…what’s the word for the place where a bunch of people are kept who aren’t allowed to come and go without permission from a heavily-armed third party who controls all access to the place, and outsiders have to agree to odd conditions to gain entry, and are not allowed to talk about certain things, or see certain places, or meet with certain people? What’s the word for that again?

Hopefully, Rep. Tlaib will find the time to type out a ‘P.S.’ to the scumbag who runs ISR:

’ F U Benny!!’

The Israeli government is to the Palestinians what the Nazi’s were to Jews. They kill them, steal their lands and homes, and treat them as less-than-human.
