Recount Announced In Neck-And-Neck Pennsylvania Republican Senate Primary

Gentlemen, please. Let us settle this like civilized people. Shall we say, chainsaws at dawn?

Please do remember that Oz is a qualified heart surgeon. The reason he no longer really practices is he has always been a publicity hound of the first order and in the world of medicine and science (which I have a personal experience in) to call attention to one’s self (bragging) as a means of getting ahead and not letting one’s work stand on it’s own merit is seriously frowned on. So he became a TV quack doctor.

Update from PA Secretary of State’s Vote Count Page

As of 322PM–Mini-Me Oz’s lead shrinks again

https://electionreturns.pa.gov

Mini-Me Oz 419,367
McCormick 418,473

Mini-Me’s lead down to 894.

Please. Ask Oz how was it doing his 2 years in the Turkish army? How was the food? Why won’t he renounce his Turkish citizenship if he wants to run for the Senate?

The ballot itself is just fine…especially since mine had all Democrats on it! The internal secrecy envelope is also just fine. It’s just the backside of the outer mailing envelope that could be confusing.

When I did my ballot, I remember thinking and questioning myself whether I should date it with today’s date or with tomorrow’s date, since I wouldn’t be mailing it until the next day.

I also think he’s more beatable. But in case the unthinkable would happen, I also don’t think that he is NOT as Trumpy as he pretends to be.

ETA - oh my goodness, I stupidly omitted the word that totally changes the meaning of my comment!

It’'s not clear that Fetterman is recovering or that he will recover. He may have irreversible heart failure.

Gad, he is execrable. The TV station took him back after his first failed run.

I think that he is recovering, but with his being such a tall and big man, his heart does have more work to do.

My brother had a “what if” theory yesterday. We know that Fetterman has the best chance of winning. Pennsylvanians love him. If he’s not getting better, he just needs to make it to November and win. After that, if he feels that he is not healthy enough to continue, our new Governor Shapiro will appoint another Democratic senator to finish the entire six year term.

I know that my brother’s theory assumes that Shapiro will also win. My response to that is that Shapiro MUST win. The alternative is unthinkable.

I don’t know PA’s specifics, but most states permit only the appointment of an interim senator who serves no longer than the next general election, or possibly even an earlier special election.

Living in NYS at the edge of the Marcellus Shale, I have to pay attention because a GOP win in Harrisburg might damage my county’s water and air via fracking.

Unless there’s a lot of uncounted votes from overseas, military, etc, 952 sounds like a lot. Have there been many vote challenges?

I just googled it. You are correct. Pennsylvania is in the “most states” category.

Therefore, Fetterman’s health is of utmost importance.

Going back to the subject of this thread - the longer that Oz and McCormick fight it out in court the longer that Fetterman can sit back and focus on his recovery.

What I would like to see is that both Oz and McCormick spend hundreds of thousands (maybe millions!) of their own money fighting this primary battle…only to be beaten to a pulp in November, making this Republican primary fight all be for naught.

I think any appointee would have to run at the next federal election

The elephant in the room questions: Did he have a heart attack? If so, what is the prognosis? In any case, is there a longer recovery period where he needs to largely reduce his activity?

Counting votes is wussy. These things ought to be pre-determined in a good democracy.

Not necessarily. There’d be an election in '24 for the rest of the term.

And…yet more GOP campaigns asking that incorrectly filled out ballots be counted. Surprised?

The ballots were filled out correctly. The ballots were postmarked and received in time. What happened was that some voters failed to hand-date the back of the outer mailing envelope below their signature.

As a Pennsylvania mail-in voter, I can see how that could happen. Most likely, to some people, the space for the date looked like it belonged to the witness signature space. The witness signature is for a voter who is unable to sign their own name.
