READ: The Alarming Report That Seems To Have Jump-Started Trump’s COVID Response | Talking Points Memo

President Trump’s surprisingly sober press conference on Monday was reportedly sparked by a British study suggesting that the U.S. could face 2.2 million fatalities if the coronavirus epidemic goes unabated.

I would also add that this virus could have been dealt with much earlier, much more scientifically, and with much less of an attempt at spin from Trump.

Not to mention the gutting of the agencies which could have led the fight.

I understand that the GOP has a messaging machine, but we owe it to the American people to hold Trump accountable for the needless damage done and damage which is coming

And don’t forget the efforts by Trump and his family to monetize this virus: testing and vaccines…which I am amazed is getting such little attention.

Trump and his republicans will find themselves passing a 800+ billion stimulus bill. That nasty big government is at it again.

Trump will have to punch back even harder now.

So we are living in historic times. Donnie (and Bolton) won’t look good in the history wiki as, regardless of Donnie’s non-acceptance of responsibility and his “10”, the buck stops with him.

New, new reality. I recommend listening to Cuomo’s press conferences. he’s doing great in communicating.

“peak epidemic later in the year”

Like, say, about November? That’s what they’re shooting for.

Just as they run a campaign with a theme claiming that America is not a socialist country.

Why would this report have had such a profound impact when similar advice from public health professionals did not? Fauci will certainly have been telling him similar things; once the “exponential growth” genie is out of the bottle, a wide variety of awful scenarios are possible as the care system is overwhelmed far past its capacity to “surge”. And the US has less surge capacity than most nations. Doesn’t have to be that way if immediate action is taken.

Whatever the reason, I’m glad some sense is taking hold

Trump suddenly realized his re-election isn’t linked to the economy anymore, it’s linked to how well he gets us through this.

It’s something he actually has to do, he can’t just bs his way through this. Even trump understands the gravity of the situation and it’s no more coasting from here.

Based on previous voting habits, Trump will be fine.

All those deaths in July is far enough out from the election that it’ll be off peoples’ radar by November.

It is all and ONLY about the economy for these people…

Yes, that’s the topmost story on the site.

Trump: “$850B in Tax cuts!!! Vote for me!!! I bought you!!!”

Schumer: “$750B in actual relief…health care, child care, food, etc.”

If the Dems and MSM can’t make the difference clear, then we’re going to watch a whole lot of people die horribly.

The fact this was initially treated as a public relations and communications problem nearly brought on a national tragedy. It still might, if they lift their foot off the gas in any way. Yesterday’s conference was positive but it’s still just a news conference

He trusts Boris more than Fauci.

There’s NO way that trump was swayed by facts and figures.

And no way that he gives a shit about a couple million random people who he assumes probably didn’t wash their hands and deserve it.

Either he or daughter-wife have it, that’s the only thing that can change his perspective that much and that quickly.
