The first of hundreds of experts at the USDA who are losing their jobs rather than rapidly relocating from Washington D.C. to Kansas City were set to begin receiving termination notices Wednesday.
One can only hope that an overwhelming majority of voters in the country issue a notice of firing every bit as abrupt as this one to Trump and all his crowd in the White House in 2020. It will take years to repair the damage they have done—if it is repairable.
As we all know, there’s a bind here - sign it and lose all chance to challenge; don’t sign it and lose the benefits.
A class action suit might be applicable here. These folks are represented, I think, by one union or another (or maybe not, because they are white-collar??? AFSCME, maybe???). Some one somewhere should be stepping up to defend against this.
Will the few who do relocate to KC be given new business cards with the new address? Or will they have to pay for those themselves? You know, cost cutting and all.
And how much will this move cost us taxpayers? Even with the trimmed down number of employees and presumably lower costs for rent, it’s still gotta cost more in the short-term to make this move.
we’re going to take you outside the bubble, outside the beltway, outside this liberal haven of Washington, D.C. and move you out into the real part of the country,
I’m sick of these fucking Republicans saying parts of the country aren’t “real.” Every time I hear someone say the Midwest is the “Heartland” I want to throw up. Fuck you, Mulvaney.
A class action will be very attractive for several law firms in DC and will let Sonny Perdue know he is no longer in Georgia dealing with a bunch of redneck retards.
We’re going to take you away from the center and heartbeat of the U.S. Government, its services and policy-making and move you out to where anything you say that contradicts or questions Trump in even the slightest way will not be heard.
Inciter-In-Chief and the Rethugnican Party
= PARTY of DEATH and DESTRUCTION, literally and figuratively!
D&D Literally = Mass shooters, MAGA bombers, body slammers, pimps, sexual assaulters…on and on
D&D Figuratively = Kill legislation bills with MoscowMitch, Kill democracy with gerrymandering, voter/political suppression, Kill the Rule of Law by Inciter-In-Chief & his Swamp Infestation’s lawlessness, and Kill instructions by terminating career civil servants…on an on
The demolition of institutions and agencies that serve human persons (though not the corporate ones) continues unabated. I picture the president as an infant in a play pen shaped like an outline of the lower 48. He is dismantling everything he can get his hands on and throwing out the pieces.
This is just a test to see if they can use efforts like this to get around the regulations that limit firing civil servants at will. It’s irrelevant to the Republicans that they may be violating the law, they want to cut as much as they can. And note that they are trying to cut scientists who produce non-partisan data, that’s the other part of this…government reports hold a lot of weight with Americans, if they can control the reports then they can control the nation.
If they win in 2020, this will become regular, as will similar actions. I suspect they will try it as much as they can with any science or statistical institutions between now and then, unless they get stopped by the judiciary in lawsuits and give up. Taking over the judiciary will allow stuff like this to go through, much to our future loss.
Ease of firing is one of American businessman’s favorite reasons to hire noncitizens illegally. I’m taking this news as more proof of the Rumpublicans’ true endgame. Basically they want all Americans to work for those low wages and shitty conditions. We’re all illegals now.
