Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) said in a Tuesday tweet that he has recovered from COVID-19 and is now volunteering at a local hospital.
Local hospital: please don’t do us any favors.
He’s helping Paul Ryan wash clean pots…
The hospital lawn doesn’t need mowing yet…
Well so much for taking a step towards flipping the Senate…
Let’s all swim together in the rehabilitation pool!
I’d like to see him volunteer as a hydroxyquinoline test subject.
Credit where due. Good for him.
If the sick people do not have enough doctors they should have made different choices in life.
I take your point, and I wish I was as gracious as you seem to be. For some reason I can’t quiiiiite put my finger on, since about January 2017 I have altered my own definition of “credit where due”.
Formerly it was: oh look, X did a good thing. Credit where due.
Now it is: oh look, X did a good thing. Does this one good thing counterbalance any/all horrible things X has done in the past? If so, hey credit where due.
Rand Paul has a long way to go in my new cynical measurement system…
My white lab coat makes me qualified!
I wonder if his stethoscope is still in working order?
I really want his smarmy face condescending to me while I’m sick in hospital. What a great humanitarian.
I expect he’s volunteering in the billing department.
Even if I were sedated I couldn’t resist hitting him in the face…with a full bedpan.
I’m trying to be evidence bound. A good thing done is a good thing no matter who does it.
But I also cold blooded apply something like your system of judgement on whether the continued existence of a particular individual will increase or decrease the net number of deaths.
Isn’t he an opthamologist? How’s he helping coronavirus patients?
"If you can see a smug, selfish asshole in front of you, you don’t need any medication for pink eye symptoms.
He just tested negative for Coronavirus. That’s great, and I’m happy for him. But I’d still prefer to err on the side of caution here, and wish he didn’t volunteer at a hospital so soon after contracting the virus. There’s still a great deal we don’t know about it, including whether recovery from an infection conveys immunity. And as a volunteer, it’s unlikely he’s doing anything essential.
An ophthalmologist? No! He’s a super special self-certified ophthalmologist!
