Rand Paul’s Upstart Ophthalmology Group Leaves Little Mark | Talking Points Memo

Rand Paul’s reputation for marching to his own drummer may extend to his medical career. The GOP Senate candidate is the founder and president of a certifying board for eye doctors, which he appears to have set up as a rival to the existing certification board. But his organization has left little public record, and the legitimacy with which it’s viewed remains unclear at best.

A physician has to be board certified to be able to work and the insurance company don’t take you because you have not passed the exam, that is not as difficult as the first one. Maybe he tried to pass the recertification and he couldn’t, and decided to agráviate everybody in the senate with his nonsense and dramas

Ummm…Josh…the last sentence:

He was certified from 1995 until 2005, when his certification lapsed, and was not renewed.

That’s not the same as:

I’m reminded that he either could not or would not get board certified in his area of medical specialty

Sounds an awful lot like Ayn Rand’s economic theory.

Did he actually ever complete a residency program? Was he licensed to practice in Ky? Did he ever actually practice Ophthalmology, or did he just want to be seen as “top-notch” for his political career?

Is this like Hitler with art school, and Castro with Major League baseball? If they had been allowed to succeed at their first career choice the world would have been spared their presence in their political careers? ABO, please please recertify him!

I think that he was a mediocre physician with his own ideas about what means to be a doctor, in general ophthalmologist s make a lot of money, so he picked up a tantrum because he had to take the recertification, as the initial physicians were grandfathered, all physicians have to go through the same, why he had to be special, instead he chose to be a senator, by the Tea Party that is also full of very confused people, I can’t imagine why he talked to Dr. Fauci with such contempt and disrespect. He may be a senator but Dr. Fauci is an international renowned specialist.

Typical Rethuglican. If he doesn’t like the rules, or if they are too stringent, he simply makes up another fake groups (tea baggers, etc.) and then declares himseld "certified.
