Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) continued to defend President Donald Trump on Sunday, insisting Trump was within his rights to withhold congressionally-approved military aid to Ukraine.
Yeah, I agree. Quid pro quo is meaningless (“this for that” isn’t always wrong) and unnecessary for drafting the impeachment articles. It’s called EXTORTION.
Here is a guy so bereft of personality that he changed his first name to that of his childhood hero: Ayn Rand.
You know, the same Ayn Rand who worshiped money and power, and wrote multiple shitty books where the wealthy could (and were expected to) kill anyone who got in their way and she thought it was a good idea?
Who then died, penniless and dependent on the very Social Security and Welfare programs she spent her life railing against?
Yeah. I though so.

Rand Paul’s defense of Trump is insane and hysterical. But it makes me wonder.
Of the 2016 candidates in the Republican primary, almost all had harsh things to say about Trump. Since then, though, Paul, Cruz, Rubio, and Graham have become self-abasing toadies for Trump, far more than is required merely to win re-election.
Carson, Perry, Pence, and Huckabee (in a sense) were absorbed into the Administration.
Jeb, Jindal, Santorum, Walker, and Christie have become relative non-entities.
It would appear more than probable that the Russians hacked not just the DNC, but Republicans also, as others have speculated. How else to explain the humiliating trips to Russia where they prostrated themselves to Putin and their way over the top defense of Trump? Even when it conflicts with their alleged principles.
Funny, I just read an article somewhere that WH Lawyers said that Trump and OMB cannot legally withhold the aid.
The department reportedly released the aid after White House lawyers found that Trump and the Office of Management and Budget could not legally delay it, a finding the lawyers had made earlier in 2019. According to Bloomberg, the lawyers detailed the finding in a classified memo to Secretary of State Mike Pompeo. (TPM)
Although, from the other story up on TPM this morning regarding Bolton ordering the release of the military aid money …
“The department reportedly released the aid after White House lawyers found that Trump and the Office of Management and Budget could not legally delay it, a finding the lawyers had made earlier in 2019. According to Bloomberg, the lawyers detailed the finding in a classified memo to Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.”
But, I’m sure Dr. Rand (had to start my own ‘certification board’ so i could declare myself board certified) Paul knows more about what’s legal than even this WH lawyer crew.
ETA: Curses, @losamigos . You snuck in when I took a phone call from my son.
The entire republican party needs to go. They will not stand up for anything that doesn’t get them and keep them in power. All else be damned. Wait and see, if the Republic survives at all, they will soon act like they just discovered the truth and demand reinstatement. Fuck them. They fucked themselves and the country.
