Carville says that Harris should be scaring the shit out of voters at this point, because it is the lowest-information voters and the most-reluctant-to-bother-to-vote voters who need to be whipped up. Certainly that is what Trump is doing as he hit his base ceiling long ago. Imagine, when the dust settles in a few weeks, there will still be about 80 million people who could have voted that didn’t.
Putin well recognizes the benefits of a large passivated population. Russians have been passivated for centuries. Policy is left to narrow elites. Period. You don’t like it lump it. Anyway, given that Russia’s economy is about the size of Italy’s, it is incredible that it can lead at least one of America’s main political parties around by the nose. Harris should be crushing Trump, Putin should have been gone years ago, and the doors shouldn’t fall off Boeing planes. But here we are, electoral autocracy on the doorstep.

90-100 million Americans live in a state of precarity. One bad health or financial setback from disaster or death. Voting may not be at the top of their existential to-do list, so voting has to be sold to them as a rage-coping mechanism.
