Truth is the first victim of war. But it now appears that Ukrainian civilians are joining truth. The numbers vary between 1 and a couple hundred civilians killed so far.

India, part of the problem. Authoritarianism.
It was worse than bullshit. The war criminal and his gang of war smug, arrogant, and ignorant criminals lied the country into war.
I just looked at the number of active service members for all NATO member nations. If Russia mobilizes and has a good two to four week head start, they can threaten other states, annex Moldavia, stuff like that…note that there are also many Balkan nations that are not part of NATO as well. At what point will the West stop a serious Russian expansion? Right now, Canada and the US have enough potential political turmoil at home to maybe not be willing to mobilize their national guard reserves, etc. If China decides to make a move on Taiwan, the US isn’t going to be keen to commit troops to Europe. There’s a lot of geopolitical problems on the horizon if Russia decides to fully mobilize and there’s no significant counter-mobilization in NATO.
But I love the idea of showing solidarity by changing your icon to the Ukrainian flag, so am following suit.
Thank you for the idea…

No no, you’re not allowed to say that. You’ll be told you need to calm down.
To avoid a total collapse?

To avoid a total collapse?
Probably not because things are too good and they don’t want to become spoiled.
I was in the streets. But there were too few of us.
We’ll see how things go. I’m pretty sure that NATO and the US would know if Russia was fully mobilizing… the question is how long they might delay before responding in kind. And how would the US be prepared to spread their forces, given the other commitments around the world if it came to full mobilization. Hopefully the US and China are more concerned about keeping the peace than war if it comes to that point…
Just dropping this here, back in a few hours.
Russian state media personalities are lauding Russian President Vladimir Putin and his order to send troops to two separatist regions of eastern Ukraine, and using commentary from Fox News host Tucker Carlson and former U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo to further support his actions.
Went to bed before all of this went down, up at 3a because my dog had three seizures in 20 minutes.
I’d say this day couldn’t get any worse, but it already has.
We’ve got a lot of Ukrainians in this town. I imagine they’re losing their collective shit up there on the north side. Already got a big memorial to the people who died in the wheat famine. Now they can have a matched set.

We provided safe harbour for his chums. And in 2016, when he attacked the US & UK elections, we played dumb & covered it up.
And now we need to root out the fifth column Putin has grown in our country.
The National Russia Association, F*cker Carlson, Pompeo, tRump, and the rest of the fascists.

You’re living in my head.

I hear you. Same here in TO. Right here at my home. I posted earlier, went to bed but couldn’t sleep. I didn’t want to look at the news. Got up, made a strong espresso and have been trying to work out my anxiety by continuing in a piece of music I started the other day. The focus takes my mind away from thinking about a part of my family that’s in the Ukraine still and another from the Donetsk Oblast region who is married to one of my nephews. They are in Germany. She left 7 years ago. Her parents are still there. I’ll speak with them later.
Any ways. I’m babbling here and need some shut eye.
My cover photo on the much-hated FB is also changed to the Ukrainian flag.
My avatar here has just become more accurate.
