New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s publisher has said it stopped promoting his recent book on leadership during the coronavirus pandemic the title because of an inquiry into efforts by the governor’s office to withhold data on nursing home resident deaths.
At this point they should change the title of Cuomo’s book to Dead Man Walking.
First, if you fudge the figures you must know that somebody will come out with the real ones, probably sooner rather than later.
Second, perhaps the only conduct rule that is clearly stated by HR in every company is that if a superior, male or female, makes any sexual advance or comment to a subordinate of any orientation the supervisor’s career is over. Period. No exceptions.
It turns out that there is a lot in common between Trump and the man we thought was the anti-Trump.
Through recently completed whole genome sequencing of a portion of the sample specimens from the outbreak cases, health officials confirmed 27 cases of the B117 variant, a highly contagious and potentially more virulent variant first identified in the United Kingdom. Cases have occurred in athletes, coaches, students, and household contacts. Multiple schools, both public and private, have confirmed cases tied to the variant strain cases. Many of the people with B117 variant COVID-19 attended school or sports activities while infectious. The concern is this highly contagious variant has the potential to spread exponentially and quickly across youth who are largely unprotected by vaccines.

“Pending the ongoing investigation,” Blake said in response to an email from the Times, “we have paused active support of ‘American Crisis’ and have no plans to reprint or reissue in paperback.”
I hope this doesn’t mean I never get a chance to read the book.
Let us say for a moment that the allegations of whitewashing the numbers are true. Allegations, I say.
I would want to better understand the motivation for the whitewashing, given that he got no support from any agency or from the Feds because he was a Democrat.
What happened in NY was a travesty on all sides. No one involved is blameless, including the governor. However, there was no playbook to deal with the overwhelming result of no assistance coming from anywhere.
We are blaming one guy when hundreds were involved.
ETA: I say this as a friend of someone who spent weeks in the hospital in NY and just barely avoided a ventilator back in April.
One bit of reasoning you might find justified is that Cuomo was trying to hide certain things from Team Trump, who, as we all agree, could not be trusted to ever do the right thing.
True, but when that one guy is a “control freak” …
For all of T****’s stupidity, he did send the Comfort, which went generally unused for the time it was there. So give him one point for that (which doesn’t offset the number of deaths).
However, there was no playbook to deal with the overwhelming result of no assistance coming from anywhere.
Agreed, and to always be remembered, but not reporting/witholding the facts of COVID deaths is the problem. Still don’t get why so many people want his head.
Because like every good Democratic Candidate, the media and the right have to look for a way to destroy them. They did it with Al Franken and they’ve done it with other candidates.
Isn’t it interesting that we don’t do the same with people like deSantis and Abbott and the ones who are actually doing harm to the constituencies? What’s it gonna take, Democrats?
this is what mystifies me…why this guy? Desantis actually fired the woman who was doing the data…she refused to falsify the records the way he wanted…she was fired and he even sent troopers to her house…nursing homes are prbably very vulnerable to outbreaks of communicable disease… and correctly disagnosing the exact cause of death is probably an iffy thing…i get the ‘sex’ thing… when all else fails…bring on the ‘sex’ thing…that gets American’s attention…who wants his job?
Maybe this is easier to see if you are a New York resident. And actually probably the worst thing Andrew has done is his eviscerating the New York State Department of Health. Certainly it was no contest in ‘18 between Andrew and that entitled Manhattan actress Cynthia Nixon. Quite simply the chickens have come home to roost. For a decade Andrew has ruled by fear and bullying. He has no friends. He has no soft power, the obvious consequence of a decade of bullying, browbeating and threatening. Friends come and go; enemies accumulate.
We always knew Andrew is nothing like his much beloved father. And Matilda and Mario did not raise their son to be such a dog around young women.
