She’s been great—will miss her when she leaves.

It will be a real loss when she leaves. Replacing her will be hard. I’m sure they will find someone good.

Hopefully they have someone better in mind but I doubt that’s possible.

She’ll inevitably increase her earnings tenfold with her own show on MSNBC or CNN. Mark it.

Yes. It turns out that “regular order” is more than bureaucracy, it is one of the guardrails of democracy which is why incipient tyrants like Trump abused and circumvented it. The trick is not just to reaffirm it as Ms Psaki rightly does, but strengthen and enforce it and for that it is clear at the moment that we need a Democratic congress and executive.*

ETA: and probably a less reactionary SCOTUS

Slightly OT, but I seem to remember reading even Biden had it in for Messonnier. Rumors of just not playing well with others.

I wouldn’t mind having Josh Earnest back, but according to wiki,

In May 2018, Earnest began serving as Senior Vice President and Chief Communications Officer for United Airlines, based at their headquarters in Chicago.

Oh well.

I will dearly miss her fine art of the verbal suplex.

She’ll be missed. The GOOD thing is that she has a year to train someone as opposed to just throw someone in that position.

A year? That’s a lot of Scaramucci’s…

Which is how “Sleepy Joe” goes.

And I will cry when she is gone. Unless of course she begins a career as a coach/consultant for kick ass women who get dumbass questions from bad actors and idiots and would like to respond by staying cool, giving factual answers, and somehow calling attention to what fucking morons the asker is. Then I will be happy, and I will hire her. Because I keep leading with calling attention to what a fucking moron the bad actor or idiot asking me the question is, and I could use her services.

I agree. She’s at least as good as the best I’d seen.

Bummer, but she can do a lot of damage to the right wing media machine in that time. Its been a whole lot of fun watching her thus far. I guess asking for more than another year might be seen as greedy.

Completely apart from “having it in for” anyone – and this is just me looking in from the outside – the CDC appears to have been very badly broken in the last four years of misrule, and probably does need some fresh leadership to restore (some of) its previous reputation and functionality.

Hmm “rumors of just not playing well with others” sounds so Trumpy. Well Redfield certainly played right into Trump’s hands.
The CDC can not be an easy place to work, trying to balance science and medicine with government. There have been many public health officials that have quit during the pandemic because their lives were being threatened, because Governors and Presidents didn’t like what they had to say.

Psaki has the rare gift of the ability to tell people to go to hell in such a way that they look forward to the trip.

Four more years! Four more years!

Sorry to hear it, but she’s giving lots of advance warning. I can imagine this has to be a high stress job and answering the idiotic questions from reporters by not lying and keeping a civil tone. Hope she’s being paid well.
