One less person Barr and Trump have to fire.

Next!

Dammit, we have to put an end to this shit.

ETA: Re-read this and the footnote to the Notice of Withdrawal. “Zelinsky, who was designated a special assistant U.S. attorney in DC, is reportedly retaining his position as an assistant U.S. attorney in Baltimore.

That’s what he thinks. He was part of Mueller’s team. Gotta fire him now.

So another “relocation”?

Getting to be a habit.

That’s actually huge, you don’t see something like that happen. He obviously resigned in protest at being forced to withdraw the sentencing recommendation; doing it that openly is waving the red flag at what is happening here. Good on him for resigning that openly and indicating to the rest of us how outrageous this interference is. The sad thing is that there are plenty of attorneys who will go along with this stuff, they will quickly find their next person to go forward with the plan to get Stone off.

It’s always a question of when it will be enough…the Republicans went nuts when Bill Clinton had a conversation with the AG, but their AG pulling all of this stuff is just fine, which shows they are a lost cause when it comes to justice for all. Whoever is going to be the Democratic candidate needs to point this stuff out, the corruption of our justice system (from judges to the DOJ to ICE, BP, and police) is a huge issue and it has to be fixed if we’re ever going to feel like the system is fair again.

Rachel noted last night that Zelinsky had been taken off the pleadings in the Flynn case. More of the Trump/Barr reward our friends/revenge against our enemies plan at work.

Aaron Zelinsky

Zelinsky came to the Mueller probe in June after a three-year stint in the US attorney’s office in Maryland, where he worked under none other than Rod Rosenstein, who is now the deputy attorney general with authority over the Trump-Russia investigation.

Zelinsky has clerked for Judge Thomas Griffith of the US Court of Appeals for the DC Circuit, a George W. Bush appointee, as well as Justice John Paul Stevens and Justice Anthony Kennedy. He also worked for the State Department under the Obama administration, where he dealt with hostage negotiations.

“He is a professional, non-partisan straight shooter, who worked for Democrats at the State Department … but has probably spent more years working for Republicans,” former State Department legal adviser Harold Koh, who supervised Zelinksy, told The New Haven Independent.

“He is an outstanding and fair-minded young prosecutor who will follow the facts and law where they lead. You can count on him to conduct any investigation based on law, not politics.”

Well of course, he resigned. He did his case. Stone was found guilty…and Donnie and Billy have their fingerprints all over the final conclusion.

On #1, you mis-spelled “ruining”, they’ve NEVER been good at running the economy.

How long before they start jailing the dissidents?

Were they ever really good at running the economy? Or were they good at bitching about the deficit whenever a Dem was in office and then running up the deficit when an R was in office and they needed to prop him up? Not much has changed in that regard.

And looking back, I think we can say that, for many republicans, patriotism was the last refuge of those scoundrels.

the Republicans went nuts when Bill Clinton had a conversation with the AG

Right, but importantly “the AG” was not Clinton’s AG. Clinton didn’t control anything in his tarmac meeting with Loretta Lynch, who was Obama’s AG.

Words can’t describe how dismaying this is to attorneys like myself, who have always considered – more or less – that the Dept of Justice was above the fray, and – come what may – was obliged to adhere to the law and policy. It’s clear now that Barr is simply Trump’s goon at Justice. Wow.

When was that? In Abraham Lincoln’s time maybe? They have mostly been strong on Bullshit during my lifetime.
