Progressives Ready To Vote For Both Infrastructure Bills Regardless Of Latest Manchin-ing

Congressional Progressive Caucus chair Rep. Pramila Jayapal (D-WA) on Monday said that progressives plan to vote for both the bipartisan infrastructure bill and the reconciliation package even without Sen. Joe Manchin’s (D-WV) commitment to support the latter.

Huge mistake. They can kiss the BBB goodies goodbye.
Manchin/Sinema will drag it around for months, and slowly, but surely kill it.

Gotta tell to put up on shut up. Can Manchin afford to vote no? Will his special interests be ok with killing the infrastructure bill?

Biden is in on this as well. I do not for a minute doubt that he is keeping tabs on what’s happening here. I believe it is the best choice, because of that.

Remember, there was talk about a vote on the BIF a few days ago.

Good to see the House ignoring Manchin and pressing on with the vote tomorrow. The only question that I have with the BIF is will any House Republicans vote in favor of it? We know that not one R will vote for BBB but I’ve not heard that Scalise is whipping a ‘no’ vote on BIF. It will be interesting.

Yellen’s point is probably the most important. What matters is the long-term growth trend, and this legislation increases that.

Mansion and Sin-enema will either vote for it or they won’t. Waiting longer probably makes no difference in the outcome. If they vote no, hang it around their necks.

If I were the GOP, I would vote for BBB and BIF. BIF allows you to crow about bipartisanship while the BBB lets you scream about reckless Dem spending. It’s not like anyone who matters to you is going to care about the hypocrisy.

Fuck that defeatist noise.

Manchin said it will cost more if it’s extended. Uhhh, yeah - literally everything costs more if it’s extended, moron.

Lol! Defeatist? It’s delusional Dems like you who have put the party in its current state.

In the engineering business this is called “Press to Test”. Jayapal is explicitly making Manchin’s vote on BBB a loyalty test to POTUS Biden. If he votes yes, he passes. If he votes no, he fails and becomes a pariah. Good on Jayapal. Manchin is just trying to stall for time. It’s well past time to get EVERYONE on the record on the most popular bill put on the Congress floor(s) in a long time.

The Trumpies hate Manchin too, because he voted to convict Trump. He really has no where to go - except to lose his seat to a Trumpie since he will have been found to have been insufficiently loyal to Lord Mango by his WV constituents.

“Everyone should just ignore Manchin’s posturing from earlier today, it’s still the same basic dynamics in play in terms of passing these two pieces of legislation.”

Yea take the vote. Get on record.

When Pelosi calls for the vote can’t she keep one open until the other is completed as well? If so, I say take the vote and let Manchin and Sinema do whatever they are going to do. Right now they may be torpedoing the VA governor’s race. The longer this drags on the more damage those two will do.

Hold the vote. If Manchin and Sinema vote no cast them aside like yesterdays news and GO AFTER THE OBSTRUCTIONIST REPUBLICANS!

As soon as the 2 quislings in the dem senate are forced to actually state their position they have folded. No more power.

Move on, I’m surprised there isn’t a second option for a reconciliation bill.

"we will pass both bills through the House as soon as we have these final negotiations wrapped up.”

And there it is, the GQP just won 2022 and 2024 and Manchin and Sinema got their paychecks. The only thing that’s becoming law is BIF. BBB is DOA because of the GQP and KKK…not to mention the MSM, which is failing us straight into civil war because it makes the 24/7 news cycle easier to fill and raises the ad revenue.

I hope you’re wrong. I’ve developed quite an admiration for Jayapal. I’d like to think she’s got the inside skinny on Manchin–something like, “You can ignore this particular temper tantrum or drama queen performance.” I guess we’ll find out.
