LONDON — Prince Charles, the heir to the British throne, has tested positive for the new coronavirus.
Wonder if this is why BoJo did an about-face on the kill-the-olds “herd immunity” policy.
Did Borris Johnson blunder into the demise of Prince Charles with his crackpot pursuit of “Herd Immunity” via intentional zero precautions? … until he was shown the data.
So there’s now a precedent for COVID-45 infecting royalty. Watch out, Emperor Zero.
I hope E.R. II is behind a bunch of filters.
My understanding (wanna say I read it in the Guardian) was that his advisors finally got through to him that the number of deaths resulting from this strategy was “not politically sustainable”.
Just like with Agent Orange – it’s all about BoJo.
“Working?”
I wish the guy well, and he seems to be above-average for a royal, but does he in fact work?
Wait a minute! RICH people can get this? That changes everything! We need to mobilize a response!
He goes to lots of events to support charities. That doesn’t compute with many Americans but standing all day, moving from one event to another, smiling, being photographed constantly and giving hundreds of royal greetings are difficult, and dangerous in a pandemic. Unlike our orange fool, the British royals can provide hope in abnormal times.
He sits on a bunch of boards and does fundraising and carries on a lot of correspondence and even studies things, so it’s not as if his days are empty. He doesn’t get paid for any of it afaik, but he does do stuff. Whether you want to call that work or extensive hobbies IDK.
In the interviews I’ve seen, he really does seem to be bright and engaged, and to possess a very advanced sense of noblesse oblige. It’s a concept that’s in far too short a supply over here.
Regardless of his exact work or near-work, hope the dude recovers.
I like Charles. He can be arrogant and posh and snooty at times, but all the signs are that after his marriage failed and Diana was killed he exhumed his better self and put it on display rather quickly. He did his best to raise his boys well. He brought his affection for Camilla out into the open and forged an honest life with her. He came around to a more genuine way of relating to his parents. And he stopped lecturing the British people about their shortcomings - opting instead to lead by good example. When I was a much younger man I gained respect for him because I was told the story of how he went to stay in Wales ahead of his investiture as Prince of Wales and, against the advisement of the Queen and others, immersed himself in learning the Welsh language well enough to deliver an impassioned formal Investiture Address (that he wrote himself) in a public broadcast that endeared him to even anti-monarchists there. He’s not perfect, but he’s head and shoulders above the likes of Current Occupant when it comes to public service.
Jackson Brown tested positive, too.
We’re going to lose a lot of big names.
Klobachar’s husband is not doing well from what I’ve heard.
