Biden should refuse to debate the Dotard. There is nothing to be won for debating him.

Nobody wants this shit in the Age of Covid.

Miami should bow out now because it won’t be getting any better in their area anytime soon either.

Wake up, people. This virus is simply not going away in time. They won’t be able to pretend the country can proceed under regular order with debates as is prior to the election, nor should they. Dems need to speak up now to prevent the quandary they’ll soon be finding themselves in. Someone has to be the adult in all this mess.

Happy my alma mater had the good sense to decline hosting one.

Why are there Presidential debates this year? We do not need ANY debates. None. Nary a one. Either folks want change or not. Real simple. There is no upside to debating an idiotic fool. As the saying goes, within minutes no one knows who is the fool.

These debates need to be cancelled. I don’t understand why Biden agreed to 3 to begin with. He is not a great debater & besides there is no need to do so.

Just completely unnecessary.

Cancel ALL the debates!

I see this as one step towards having the ‘debate’ at Mar-a-Lago with Trump on a raised Presidential Throne and Biden being shouted down and openly laughed at by a hand-selected crowd of Trump cronies.

So this one is hosted by Fox then?

No. Fox is out because Trump discovered that what they report is occasionally factual. Hosted by OANN.

I want election reform to start with reducing the number of months of campaigning. A president serves a term of 4 years. The first 2 years is trying to get their platform accomplished, and the next 2 years is running for re-election. I say that neither party can campaign for their nominee until the beginning of the election year, and the nominees from their parties can’t aggressively run for president until after June 1st.
And I’m thinking about all states should elect their governors and other state leaders on opposite of the presidential elections. My thinking on this is that local elections need to be have has much consideration as the national elections.

Florida?
And Biden’s campaign agreed to this?

They would simply claim he is afraid of trump. They need to do virtual debates - also that way they could control the time limit and prevent trump from interrupting by simply switching to Biden with trump’s mic off. Claim it’s all computerized or something.

A lot of countries do successfully limit campaign times - there are no ads or rallies allowed until a set time before the election.

Why Miami? Does the commission not have access to what is going on down there?

There has been no agreement to anything yet between the campaigns.

This is merely trying to get acceptance for the host sites to hold the debates, IF the campaigns agree upon having them, and the rules, etc. with having them.

I don’t think even the Miami site is official yet, either.

“Miami-Dade County is allowing theater venues such as the Arsht Center to reopen. The Arsht Center has not yet submitted a reopening plan to officials, however, and remains closed.”

From the article:

“Now the debate will take place at the Adrienne Arsht Center, a non-profit performing arts organization and venue in Miami.”

Bad reporting?

Why is it hard to host a debate? Two candidates, three mods, assorted production staff. Don’t tell me their going to have an audience?

Unclear reporting.

I assume a number of sites submitted requests to host the debates some time ago, and as one declined, they went to the next on their qualification list.

Whether or not Adrienne Arsht Center has agreed in writing, or verbally, to this recent change, is the open question.

“The Commission on Presidential Debates announced on Tuesday that the second presidential debate will be held at a performing arts center in Miami, Florida,”

And here I thought performance art died a grisly death at the end of the 80s.

And a ton of security and staff coming in from all over. Look at how many of trump’s staff have or were exposed to COVICD.
