[Essay] Get Ready for Peak Trump II It’s all happening. Next week, the hollow moral rot of the Trump II era will be on full display in a string of convergent events: the one-year anniversary of Charlie Kirk’s assassination, the 25th anniversary of 9/11, and the RNC’s first-ever midterms convention in Texas, headlined by President…

Kushner and Witkoff off to Moscow this weekend. But why? It has to be something more than Dmitriev time.

“But Trump himself seems to have no qualms about pulling candidates off the campaign trail and forcing House members to shell out [$25,000] to attend this event…”

They can say no! Not that I want them too, so by all means show up you spineless slugs.

“Over at TicTok sellers made a bizarre blanket -featuring likenesses of Kirk and George Floyd, the man whose death inspired the 2020 Black Lives Matter protests, as angels looking down from heaven.”
The Floyd family should sue for proceeds of that sale.

I’m having flashbacks from all the milk and cookies I did in the '60s.

Then they’ll embark on their “America: Love It or Leave It” tour of college campuses, in which students will be challenged to “discuss why America remains the greatest country on Earth,” and, if they disagree with this premise, explain why they don’t move elsewhere.

Here’s my response for them. Your premise is inherently contradictory. If America is still the greatest country on earth, then any criticism of it should be able to be addressed without resorting to threats of expulsion (voluntary or otherwise). Threatening expulsion is an admission that there is something wrong, and not only are you happy with the defect but seek to enhance it.

Next Thursday marks the first anniversary of Kirk’s death at the hands of an apparently politically motivated gunman. Ironically, those dark circumstances have played into the disingenuous schtick that Kirk made his life’s work.

I don’t want to say this Charlie Kirk hagiography stuff is over, but I fear it’s far too late to make entirely truthful statements about him, get fired for your troubles, then collect millions in back pay and punitive damages…

Speaking of settlements.

It’s funny, but I think pretty much every other mockery of University policy get’s a quiet disinvite from future employment. Then I recall that rightwing dickheads are simultaneously oppressed and an actually protected class.

Side note, I’ve been aware my entire life that the geography surrounding me was previously inhabited by other cultures. I used to get annoyed by the frequent reminders something I had internalized by the time I was 8 or so, mostly because I’m impatient and want to get to the event I came for. This guy however reminded me that apparently there is a big swath of this society that wants to rewrite that reality.

What he doesn’t understand in the least is that trade moves stuff we don’t need to people who do need it and have something we want in return. That way both of the trade partners benefit. Having no concept of beneficial, Dotard thinks it’s only about monetary profit. His elevator stays on the ground floor. Some defect in humanity’s behavioral DNA has caused him to be picked as a leader. It is probably a sign of our species self-extincting.
