A Public Policy Polling (D) survey out Tuesday of new swing state North Carolina shows President Obama up by one in a potential matchup with former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney. The numbers show Obama’s approval rating nearly even at 47 – 49, and Romney solidly disliked with a 34 percent favorability rating versus 48 percent. But independent voters in the state break hard toward Romney in the actual vote, and Obama even loses some wayward Democrats.
