Law enforcement in Richmond, Virginia, announced Wednesday that police received an anonymous tip that they believe foiled a plan to carry out a mass shooting at a Fourth of July celebration.
The legacy media is a day or two behind on this story. Fox News was all over it 2 days ago. What makes a mass shooting plot worthy of their front page coverage? The fact that the perps were illegal immigrants - and of couse that aspect is what dominates the headline writing.
“The men were arrested after police found assault rifles, a handgun and 223 rounds of ammunition in their home, Smith said.”
A suspiciously precise count of the ammo, IMO.
Given that the cops found “assault rifles,” which is often media shorthand for AR-15s and the like, I think the “223” refers to .223-caliber ammunition for said assault rifles
One of the men, 52-year-old Julio Alvarado-Dubon, was arrested on Friday, when the weapons were discovered, according to Smith, while the other one, 38-year-old Rolman A. Balacarcel
Now that is a name for a Hispanic jail bird. That is pronounced exactly the same as “Va a la Carcel”, “Goes to jail”, you cannot make these things up.
Well, the guys watched the news and though that mass shootings is an American tradition and they just wanted to fit in. Who says immigrants don’t assimilate?
I was wondering about that, as well. Without knowing more about the potential targets (predominantly white or black crowd? upper or lower class? etc.) It’s hard to know where they fall on the grievance meter. Given that there is a federal ban on illegal immigrants owning firearms, where did these guys get all of this weaponry? This is a very odd story.
ETA: I do realize that one can buy firearms on the black market. Without knowing their motive, it seems strange they would put together this much cash and then hunt down the hardware.
Yeah, this is a strange one. My first thought is it could be a gang-related “SWATing” with a tip called in by one of their enemies, claiming it was a planned mass shooting to take them out. I hope we hear more about this soon, because it’s too easy to shoehorn into Fox News memes and something smells fishy here.
Hadn’t thought about SWATing. Good point. My brain was going down a convoluted conspiracy path of some anti-immigration group hiring these guys to do some fake job and then calling a tip in on them, knowing it would be great July 4th fodder for Fox News.
Imagine that? Its almost as if the best way to stop a bad person with a gun is to look for warning signs ahead of time and to call someone actually trained to deal with the issue.
It’s not even black market, in many states sales among private parties do not require any kind of identification, registration or background checks. Put your ad on a bulletin board, when the guy shows up with the money, you give them gun and that’s it.
Does this “you can’t be serious” level of nonsense imply a connection to Rudy + TFG, who only hire the best people, like Fraud Gaurantee, to clown about and commit crimes in their fascist circus?
If there is a single key that links every shooter, it seems that they telegraphed, or even You-Tubed (Tweeted, TikToked or Truth So-So’d) their intentions in some way so there were witnesses to it in real time.
BEFORE the shootings occurred.
Track each of them back to the moment their game player wanted attention and told someone about it, in some similar fashion.
If casual observers like me can see these links so clearly, why don’t the “authorities” see it even more intimately?
The way “the authorities” indulge creepy, threatening, grievance-possessed young white guys long before they become creepy mass murderers is all the more exposed when they chase down black delivery men and put sixty rounds into them.
The distance between those two realities seems unreal.
But they are the exact same “authorities” in both cases.
So where’s the problem?
