Post-Insurrection Fence Around Capitol Expected To Start Coming Down Today

The security fence that currently surrounds Capitol grounds due to the pro-Trump insurrection on Jan. 6 is slated to begin coming down on Friday, more than six months after the mob attacked the building.

Just in time for August 13th.

Good. Having the Capitol surrounded by all that garbage is way too tinpot for my tastes.

And that fence they put up after the insurrection is pretty ugly too.

(I’ll show myself out.)

The DC National Guard and all other police and security agencies assigned to back up Capitol Police in an emergency have scheduled a family picnic day in the suburbs of Arlington, VA on August 13th. So don’t be effing calling them, they won’t be coming.

Which is perfect because Congress will be in their districts for August recess. Let them storm the Capitol with nobody there.

Gosh if it were ME I’d leave that sucker up 'til Labor Day…maybe they think there won’t be any problems with the 'critters in RECESS all of August…

So what you’re saying is, attacks are incoming in the next couple weeks. Duly noted.

No Congress members are required for an angry mob to do $50 million worth of damage and kill or maim the few police sent in some lame attempt to quell them.

Nice place for a garden party/picnic:

Circular logic says we don’t need the new fence because no one has tried to attack the building since the higher fence was installed.

So in retrospect, the whole fence now seems completely unnecessary.

Hahaha, thanks!

Could we be entering a post-MAGA period in history?

Maybe.

Matthew Gertz. That had to feel like a safe name to have until very recently. Rough luck.

This guy seems alright though.

Books will be written about how Donald Trump and his term in office forever altered the fabric of the nation, to its detriment.

I’m going to assume this means they feel they have a pretty good handle on things. That they’re not taking the former guy’s wet dreams of reinstatement seriously, as they shouldn’t, and they have pretty good Intel on various potential co-conspirators. And I certainly hope better plans are in place, just in case, for a worst case scenario.

$50 says several people thought good plans were in place on January 6th, including worst case contingencies.

What if the Right held an insurrection, but the subjects of their ire aren’t there? Can we really call it an insurrection?

And corral them this time so that nobody leaves before being charged.

I don’t trust anything that happened under the former guy, and frankly, things are still murky as to who did what in the military, intelligence agencies, and LEOs on that day.

I don’t know if it was merely poor planning, and, if so, if that was deliberate, and/or poor execution of the plan. There were insurrectionists within the chain of command, in my opinion.
