WTF is up with your neighbor?!? West Virginia exists because it chose to remain in the Union. If that guy had any sincere appreciation of his heritage, he’d be proudly flying the stars and stripes.
That’s the point I was trying to make.
Of course this is also the dude who passed me on a double yellow line, uphill, doing 60 in a 35mph zone. He’s clearly not the brightest bulb on the Christmas tree.
Of all the immigrants in my town (33% Hispanic, Ukrainian, Kenyan, and a wide sprinkling of others) those from Appalachia have had the most problems with the law and in the schools.
When an academy secretary asked about the picture, Byrd said “they do that because I’m a hard-ass like Hitler,” the secretary told investigators.
I actually find that plausible. Is that what I think happened here? No. But I have seen innocent motives lead this way before, so at this point I still have an open mind.
Byrd told investigators she was “completely unaware of the historical or racial implications of the gesture and reported it was simply a greeting,”
Nevermind. Feigning a level of ignorance that would get you pulverized on any playground west of the sun. Byrd is a Nazi and was training Nazis for the criminal justice system.
It would be too expensive to not.
Wow. Actual consequences…at least until Trump finds out. Then he’ll “Eddie Gallagher“ her.
This is the Trump effect. These morons think just because Trump hasn’t faced any consequences of significance for blatant racism, anti-semitism, and misogyny, they, too, can let their inner bigot out.
Miller, that white nationalist, is still there, after all.

Remember the phone on Green Acres? It’s like that.
Hey when I was growing up we had a party line, but not
“When an academy secretary asked about the picture, Byrd said “they do that because I’m a hard-ass like Hitler,” the secretary told investigators.”
“Byrd told investigators she was “completely unaware of the historical or racial implications of the gesture and reported it was simply a greeting,” in the summary’s words, and that no one at the academy told students to stop using it as a greeting to her.”
Seems like both those statements by Byrd can’t be true. I’m guessing she spoke to the secretary before speaking to investigators, in which the second is a lie.
(Am I missing something?)
Were you one ringy-dingy? Or two?
I would pay just about anything to be in the room when someone tells Trump he can’t pardon these guys.
She acknowledged that her job was in jeopardy and yet thinks the Nazi salute and sieg heil is the equivalent to saying hello?
“completely unaware of the historical or racial implications of the gesture and reported it was simply a greeting,”
And yet she seemed to know about Hitler.
Byrd said “they do that because I’m a hard-ass like Hitler,
“The photo, which shows the vast majority of trainees giving the Nazi-era salute and some raising a fist, was the result of a mix of “poor judgement, ignorance, peer pressure and fear of reprisal,” the summary of the investigation said.”
If their judgement and susceptibility to peer pressure are so shaky, it is not clear to me that ANY of them are suitable for police work.
yikes read the comments on that article; fine people on both sides, no doubt…
Amazing how the cadets philosophicaly resemble their erstwhile clientele…
I know some cops. Most are not suitable for police work.

Interesting. Know what else those things fueled? Yeah…people pushing other people into ovens and giving them toxic “showers.”
Then this will reinforce your theory.
Now they will all vote Republican because of their constitutional rights.
Well they would anyways.
