The justification is thin, and reasoning specious. History is complex, and at one point Iran was an ally. The weaseling, misleading dross pouring from the mouth of the Secretary of State is as empty and void as his boss’s head is empty. Pompeo makes idiots uneasy when he is compared to them.

I have approximately zilch love for Esper, but he had the intestinal fortitude to say on national TV “I haven’t seen any evidence”. In any other administration this would be the faintest possible praise (maybe it still is), but it is galaxies of honor beyond anything the wretched and odious Mike Pompeo is able to muster.
For those who are baseball-inclined, Pompeo is Pete Rose in this storyline.
