There’s little doubt that Pompeo does such things because there’s something in it for him, either now or down the line. He should be put on notice that all his financial dealings are, and will be, subject to scrutiny. Not only his financial dealings, but those of his family members and anyone else who could benefit. And leave us not to forget, and leave him not to forget, that offshore accounts thought hidden do not always remain so.

They’re in a refrigerator showroom full of vast shiny refrigerators made by exploited labor in China, imported by pirates, paid for by taxpayers, telling us we need the biggest, hugest refrigerator possible, and that if you don’t buy a refrigerator designed to use twice as much electricity you’re not manly, then deciding to sell all the refrigerators to Dubai and telling you that you can have that refurbished one from the 1970s over there in the corner for $6,000 and Harvest Gold is a very fashionable color.
And no, they don’t deliver.

Allow me to be prosaic for a moment. Imagine how much abuse and bad stuff already happens when things are normal and arms are sold in a way that’s mostly consistent with an administration’s general strategic aims meant to improve the U.S. posture in the world, whether wisely or misguidedly conceived. Now imagine a situation in which the folks dealing for us conduct themselves as mob bosses because that’s literally what they are and acting in the nation’s interests is a thing beyond their ken. How many times worse? You’ll need all your fingers and most of your toes.

Sometimes smart people eventually come to believe they’re smarter than everyone and can do crimes and get away with it. This is usually proven at some point to be a misimpression.
