Pompeo Forced Volker Out After Giuliani Spilled That State Dept Knew Of Dirt Digging

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo made the U.S. representative to Ukraine the scapegoat following revelations that the State Department was aware of Rudy Giuliani’s dirt digging mission in Ukraine, The Daily Beast reported late Tuesday.

Hard to believe that they are stupid enough to think this would help. This was stupidity to the 100th power.

Sounds to me like panic is making ol’ Pompeo irrational – the gif of him in Italy turning around and walking away when he was asked about the phone will be playing on continuous.

So my expectation is that Volker is gonna throw him to the lions.

Great plan there, Mike.

POTUS is breaking the law right and left, and you’re looking for a scapegoat.

You really are a POS.

Reading through Volker’s CV, he looks to me like a CIA spook (actually, he WAS a CIA officer. Volker began his career in foreign affairs as an analyst at the Central Intelligence Agency in 1986, then “left” the agency to “pursue other positions”. Just like a covert spook would do.)

His appointments and positions are always right next to someone who has the kind of access to lots of information and to foreign leaders that would attract foreign intelligence agents, so they need a US spook near them to keep the CIA up to date and to counter those moves.

Especially his work for Bush the First (who was Director of the CIA under President Ford.)

I’ve said before and I’ll say it again; Trump made a HUGE mistake accusing the Whistleblower, a career CIA employee (who must be pretty high up to be assigned to the WH) of being a “foreign spy” and a “Traitor”. I can think of no greater insult to a career CIA person.
Rule #1: Never piss-off the people who record EVERYTHING you do.

It is quite evident that the avalanche of information pouring out about Trump, Pompeo, Barr, et. al. is coming (secretly) from the CIA and other US Intelligence agencies.
They have had enough of this administration and are finally doing something about it.

Things that are not crystal-clear:

  1. What problems exactly did Pompeo think he had?

  2. Why did Pompeo think firing Volker would help solve any of those problems?

Maybe I should have put even more in there.

I think we may be about to find out what the answers to your questions are… :joy:

Pompeo looks like he could generate an ocean of flop sweat.

Please proceed…

This is one of this administration’s “Saturday Night Massacres”. It looks like the first, but that was probably the outing of Coates and Gordon. This one is higher profile and more clearly tied directly to the scandal.

Pompeo probably won’t survive this.

Hell hath like a Republican scorned/pushed out like Scaramucci?

Let’s wait and see…

Agree. We haven’t had the “complete faith” pre-kick tweet yet, but it’s coming. He’ll be gone within days (or less).

I am so sad.

I am also so sad that his (and MoscowMitch’s) amibitions for Senate are ashes now.

Gotta go open a new bottom of Schadenfreude — I went through a whole bottle already this morning while reading the headlines.

The fatal mistake was giving Barr purview over the IC while mandating him to overturn their analysis that Russia hacked us in 2016.

It’s delicious isn’t it. And ironic given the history of the org, that we’re looking at the CIA as the white hat guys, the ones who will ultimately save our nation and protect the rule of law. But so be it.
