And I would think that questioning PompousAss over his management of the Dept. of State has nothing to do with confidential counsel between PompousAss and Trump.
The way I see it is that yes the President has the right to move ambassadors around, they serve at his pleasure, but then PompousAss never met with Yovanitch to explain anything to her. He couldn’t face her, or be honest with her removal.

Gee, I wonder which of the two is telling the truth.

It shouldn’t surprise anyone that Pompeo is talking about the month of May, because the month of May is not terribly important in this saga. It doesn’t take much to run rings around the press, does it?

In summary:

  1. Sept 25, “memorandum” of the July 25th call is released.
  2. “After memorandum was released, McKinley testified, he pushed Pompeo to release a statement supporting Yovanovitch multiple times.”
  3. In today’s press conference, Pompeo is asked why he never released such a statement
  4. Pompeo ignores the question and instead talks about lack of events in the month of May, implicitly dissing McKinley with “It’s not surprising” and “It shouldn’t surprise anyone”.
  5. Pompeo smiles smugly. End of questioning. Botox-tongue Pompeo wins.

This is pathetic. Fix the fucking journalism schools.

One person testified under oath. One person refuses. I think I’ll believe the person under oath.

Pompeo refuses to be sworn under oath and testify. His denial is therefore of no weight, since his aid testified under oath.

One of them is lying; we all know it’s Pompeo.

It’s a mystery to me why so many are willing to lay their reputations on the line for Trump. He’s a bloated scam artist of the worst kind. He’s a repugnant and disgusting example of humanity. EDDT will be Trump’s epitaph, and those who participate in his evil schemes will be forever remembered as the abject, immoral lackeys they are.

ETA: And willing to risk going to prison for lying under oath for Trump.

And, that’s being kind . . .

If there is a merciful God we shall soon see The Last Days of Pompeo.

Part of what’s missing in plain sight here is that the defense in this denial is to call the president a vengeful psychopathic serial killer. That’s what the people trying to shield the president are saying, as if it’s perfectly normal that the god-emperor should react to his vizier saying “that fired satrap wasn’t doing such a bad job considering the conditions” by ordering the satrap tossed into a burning alligator pit. So of course the best way to avoid the burning-alligator thing is just to agree with the loon until something else shiny distracts him.

Remember this: the president’s own people are defending him by saying he’s a revenge-driven lawless psychopath who can’t help himself.

Simplify : Pompeo is a duplicitous, demonstrable liar…what he says now is likely a self serving lie and he serves at the pleasure of the biggest liar in history.Lets get to the ramifications for his treachery.

Exactly. He thinks he’s going to exit stage left and slink back to Kansas (where he’s a carpetbagger) and run for U.S. Senate. I think Kansas, which last year elected a Democratic governor and a Democratic Lt. Governor, and flipped one of four House seat to Democratic, and four former repubs in the legislature flipped to the Democratic Party, I don’t know that Kansas is in the mood for a lying piece of garbage like the repiglican Pompussy.

Hey, he’s been taking lessons from Barr. Cut him a little slack since he’s new to this. It’s harder than the outright lying he was counting on before.

Even if there’s not (and I believe there isn’t) we’re going to see it happen.

I’m sure if you think about it long enough - a nanosecond should suffice - you’ll get the right answer.
