Plea Discussions Ongoing In Ballooning Oath Keepers Conspiracy Case | Talking Points Memo

Partway through a crowded hearing Tuesday involving multiple defendants in the alleged Oath Keepers conspiracy to attack Congress on Jan. 6, a federal judge said the scene reminded him of “Hollywood Squares,” the former hit TV show with a set featuring a stacked grid of celebrities.

The growth in the case docket, from 12 defendants to 16, became the topic of conversation Tuesday.

It’s like the Price Is Right and Wheel Of Fortune housed in one big clown car.

Can’t we just have them rat each other out and then reverse the plea deal, kind of like these guys did with their oaths when they were sworn into the military (some of them anyway)?

The prosecution side can start with “You agree to plead guilty to assault, sedition, criminal conspiracy, attempted murder of special-category federal officials and aggravated mopery; and to testify against anyone you have knowledge of as a conspirator. We agree to nothing.”

Continuance of 30 days way too much.

Give them 5 and move forward to trial.

It’s time to get on with it! Next thing you know the Republicans in Congress will be saying, “please delay the trials until after the next election. Otherwise unfair!”

It sounds like that courtroom scene in What’s Up, Doc?

Or as the Qanon shamans lawyer said the other day. A bunch of brainwashed retards on the short bus. It looks like there’s going to be a caravan of them.

“I think that Ms. Hernandez and I need to speak separately because I think that there may have been a misunderstanding about exactly what the nature of our negotiations were,” prosecutor Rakoczy responded.

…and continued: “You can have my answer now, if you like. My final offer is this: nothing. Not even the proffer fee, which I would appreciate if you would put up personally.”

One thing that the Government cannot do is to make light of this. This is an unprecedented attack on Congress…

…which (aside from a bunch of GOPers) did not attack itself.

Man….almost enough Oathkeepers for a quorum. Anyone bring the tiki torches?

Rhodes is toast. The superceding indictments mentioned in the earlier Oathkeeper article today is the way that they’re putting hyper-pressure on the lower ranks to come forward with what else they know.

In my Fever Dream we will find out that Rhodes was with Roger Stone the night before One-Six at the Trump Hotel old post office, to conspire.

The prosecution sounds very confident, so I doubt they are going to offer deals without testimony unless someone really is just a little fish and unimportant. Clearing the decks of these folks, and getting testimony and evidence from them, opens the door to the higher ups. I don’t think they plan to stop at Rhodes either, as it is unlikely that he operated in a vacuum…he and his people were protecting Roger Stone which means they were very likely in the room for some high level conversations (and I recall Rhodes visited the White House at one point).

They really are building a case to get at everyone who helped to plan an insurrection against the US government, and that requires a lot of work to build a rock solid case for sedition. It’s going to take time to get all the ducks in a row, and to sweat the defendants and get them to flip. But, I would expect all these folks to be processed through the system this year…the big sedition trials will be going next year, and that’s perfect timing to remind Americans that the Republican party attempted a takeover of the government and is working to make that inevitable in 2024.

I suspect by the end of summer they’ll need to move these “game show” trials to the Anthem theater, probably between the Jason Mraz (August 15) and Bleachers (September 24) concerts.
