A federal grand jury returned an indictment on Thursday charging Trump White House adviser Peter Navarro with two counts of contempt of Congress relating to his refusal to testify before the House Jan. 6 Committee.
Ok, nice to see because while congressional subpoenae expire on January 3rd of odd numbered years, indictments are forever. But… why Petesey Navarro? The DC DA sought and got an indictment for Steve Bannon, then passed on meadowmuffins and half a dozen congresscritters. But did seek an indictment for petesey. Is this because DoJ is investigating markymeadows and the critters but not petesey, so doesn’t have to worry about an indictment of petesey screwing up the investigation? (once indicted the defendant is entitled to know all that he is being charged with)
Please Pete, get back on with Ari tonight and shoot your mouth off some more. You started out last night seeming a bit more contrite, but quickly devolved to your usual BS.
Pete, Pete, I don’t think they realize you’re going to impeach Biden. Have your attorney send em a note to lay off. They don’t know who they’re fucking with. Yeah, send em a note.
So he’s charged with two misdemeanors that could net a maximum fine (for both) of $2,000 and up to 2 years in prison if the judge sentences him to serve them consecutively. But at a minimum, he could get one month and a $100 fine, and those could be set aside.
That subpoena demanded that Navarro comply by 9 a.m. on Thursday. He did not return a pre-indictment request from TPM asking whether he had complied.
Wouldn’t it be just hilarious if he actually did comply with the subpoena thinking it would buy him some favor, and still got indicted anyway? It looks like the feds waited to unseal the indictment until after the deadline. Who knows how long they’ve been sitting on this thing? This is great!
