The man who led a congregation that gave birth to the religious movement Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth now follows has a few principles for you to understand. A former Navy man, they’re informed by his career in the armed forces. But the kind of warfare he envisions isn’t always physical: it’s spiritual. That man…
Warfare by any other name, or with any other adjectives, spiritual or not, is violent.
So, Pete Hegseth’s pastor endorses violence. According to the headline, apparently against everyone.
And apparently, the teachings of Jesus Christ causes this pastor to believe that Jesus would be a General in this violent crusade.
Somehow,I gotta disagree with this man.
“God has given us his law and our marching orders. We can’t lie, cheat, steal, murder, you know — we can’t say, ‘oh, the, the stakes are too high,'” he said.
Obviously that sentiment falls on deaf ears.
But if you’ve convinced men that they’re leaders in these places, really important and all of this stuff, and you give them what looks like power, they’re gonna be more inclined to participate.”
So the good old boys club is looking for new members.
John 18:36: "My kingdom is not of this world,
“ The group holds that women in combat is a sin on the same level as abortion or same-sex marriage.”
Of course they do. Anything in the service of their narcissism can be a “sin” to these people.
Wow, this really reminds me of something…a religious term…not christian, I don’t think…what is it?..it means “spiritual warfare,” but in a different language…
Jihad! That’s it!
War as a theme for Christianity is not just a theme for these yahoos. I would remind everyone of the old hymm “Onward Christian Soldiers”
Onward Christian soldiers!
Marching as to war,
With the cross of Jesus
Going on before.
Christ, the royal Master,
Leads against the foe;
Forward into battle,
See, His banners go!
War was what Christ absolutely opposed but Christian churches since jump have uniformly embraced war. We had a multicentury period between Luther and the enlightenment that was little but Christians killing Christians. Christ isn’t to blame, his teachings are very peaceful. To blame are the politiicians parading around in robes who use the Christian faithful to impose their will on their neighbors.
In this case, the principle at stake is that of finding a “decisive point”: a means to preach that will achieve maximal influence.
I wonder if the KKK thinks that this guy is recruitable?
Thinking that he already has a taste for crosses and violence
It’s a little early for Righteousness and Warfare this morning.
Plus, you know there’s a pedophilia story in this somewhere.
The distractions keep coming.
Having a lot of guys around who are sex abusers is also part of it, apparenty.

John “Beau” Summerlin, 55, a founding member and former deacon of Trinity Church, has been charged with sexual abuse of a child under the age of 16 and lewd conduct with a minor, both felonies. According to police reports, the alleged sexual abuse was against a family member and occurred between 2012 and 2015. According to police documents, when confronted by officers, Summerlin acknowledged inappropriate touching.
Church handled sexual abuse claims internally, records show
The investigations reveal a pattern of handling sexual abuse allegations primarily as internal church matters, similar to criticisms faced by Christ Church leader Doug Wilson. Trinity Church is part of the Communion of Reformed Evangelical Churches, founded by Wilson. Wilson has been accused of requesting leniency for convicted abusers, siding with alleged perpetrators over victims and discouraging victims from speaking out. Critics have also cited instances of Wilson minimizing sexual abuse.
One example of a patriarchal church community that’s been entangled with allegations of abuse for decades is Christ Church in Moscow, Idaho, led by patriarchal theologian and pastor Doug Wilson. Vice has reported instances of inappropriate handling of abuse in the Christ Church community, including the case of Natalie Greenfield, a fourteen-year-old girl sexually abused by Jamin Wight, a student at a Christ Church ministry training program.
Instead of working to protect the victim and prevent further abuse,
“In 2005, when Greenfield reported the abuse to police, Wilson asked the investigating officer to give leniency to Wight. Wilson cast their sexual interactions as the result of a parent-arranged courtship—something Greenfield maintains is untrue—but, according to emails gathered in an extensive analysis of Wilson by researcher Rachel Shubin, the judge seemed to accept Wilson’s narrative and rejected a more stringent plea agreement under charges of sexual abuse of a child.”
A church plant of Christ Church later financially supported Wight as a missionary, but “in 2013, Wight was charged with attempted strangulation of his wife and later found guilty of domestic battery.” This is just one story of many coming out of this community.
Nicely done! That didn’t take long. TY.
Hmmm…”flatter men back into church”. Isn’t that the same playbook dump had…flatter men into voting?
And this tracks with UFC bout to celebrate the country’s birthday. Ugh
Dare I say that religion has been used more for evil than good throughout history?
A church plant of Christ Church later financially supported Wight as a missionary, but “in 2013, Wight was charged with attempted strangulation of his wife and later found guilty of domestic battery.”
WTF! You don’t strangle the wife! You pick up one of her favorite dining room antique chairs and smash it to pieces! That’s how you get even.
The Trump administration is full of jihadists!
“Of all bad men, religious bad men are the worst.” – C.S. Lewis
Poor sad cowardly men who can’t deal with women with a brain believe this shit. They need to coddled and protected. Hegseth is a man of complete filth: a drunk and a misogynist who has been handed every advantage in life and still doesn’t have enough. In any rational world he would have been fired for incompetence from every job he holds but because some really dumb men think he’s manly instead of a jerk, they continue to hire him no matter how awful a job he does.
Yes, I’ve got to agree with you. There is Matthew’s (26:47-53) story in the garden where Jesus was arrested. Peter had a sword and struck off the ear of one of the High Priest’s servants. Jesus told Peter to sheathe his sword, noting that those who wield the sword will die by the sword. He goes on to say in verse 53,
Do you think I cannot call on my Father, and he will at once put at my disposal more than twelve legions of angels?
That doesn’t sound to me like someone who wants to be a general in an all-out war.
And yes, I know the apologist’s arguments about Jesus in the apocalypse ain’t quite Jesus in scripture. I’m not buying that line.
Religion is a mental illness.
The requirement that one believe in absolute bullshit as a prerequisite for membership benefits is nothing short of a laughable con game. A foul mountain of garbage built on a foundation of empty promises intended only to imprison the mind and control the victim.
Humanity can never move forward until this disease is eradicated.
Let me guess - their chief weapons are fear, surprise, and a ruthless efficiency.
