Most men within the qualifying age bracket are already required to register but the shift to automatic registration was mandated in December as part of the fiscal 2026 National Defense Authorization Act.
So some are not required, but with the new, automated system, they will be and there will be terrible consequences because of more stupidity.
Under the current system, failure to register is considered a crime that carries a $250,000 fine and the threat of a five-year jail term plus the loss of access to state-funded financial aid and employment in numerous states, although, in practice, it is seldom prosecuted.

Hate to say it, but Bondi should not bother showing up. With Bannon, the Supreme Court established the people do not need to honor Congressional subpoenas. This is where we are.

There’s a part of me that wonders if much of the decline “mainline” denominations have been facing for the past 4 decades wasn’t driven to some extent by their surrender of Christian language and theology to a proto-fascist movement.
ETA the slacktivist article is particularly damning when you consider the glee those denominations have been expressing about Felon hastening the apocalypse. Talk about moral accommodation.
