Hegseth Seeks Revenge In one of the most blatant retribution schemes yet in Trump II, the Pentagon announced Monday that it is investigating Sen. Mark Kelly, a combat veteran and elected Democrat from Arizona who has long been critical of Trump and recently upset Trump admin officials for stating publicly something that is in the…
I genuinely feel that tRump and Hegseth have really stepped in it now ! Mark Kelly ? One of the most respected members of the Senate ? A former astronaut for chrissakes ?** And for the grand crime of reminding our armed service members to remember their sworn oaths to The Constitution ? If this gets any actual traction then the US is truly screwed. And no cat pic tonight ! My furries are beyond words !
How many goddamn lower court rulings have now been disappeared into the Supreme Court gulag? I’ve lost track.
The SC disconnect from the rest of the world is alarming and is a prime driver of the failure of our democracy.
The Pentagon is a building so it can’t investigate people.
Who is doing the investigation? Under what command?
Also, Jim, Here’s a cat:
The farm, where I no longer live, was spending about two grand a month on electricity, leading son in law to apply for a grant to get solar on the farm (again - we tried and failed a few years ago).
Cat:
Thank you. I came here to say the same thing.
Your cat looks like he has a few pithy comments as well.
At last we’ll FINALLY be able to have that epic Astronaut vs. Caveman battle!
“The average electricity bill in the state, meanwhile, has risen 13 percent from a year ago, as utilities upgrade electric grids to accommodate a burst of new data centers, according to an analysis of federal data by NEADA, which represents state directors of energy aid programs for low-income families.” –emphasis added
Hmmmmmmmm, all that AI energy-sucking is really helping regular Americans, isn’t it… Why aren’t the Data Centers paying for the increased costs that THEY are causing?!?
“I love America more than any other country in the world and, exactly for this reason, I insist on the right to criticize her perpetually.” ― James Baldwin
Senator Kelly is a fighter; what Dems want right now. A target that will backfire on the administration.
Cat: one of the two new ones, King of the house and owner of all he surveys:
I think that the point was to announce an investigation, not to actually investigate anything.
Edit: which is why Senator Gallego’s response was, “Fuck you and fuck your investigation.”
Now the Pentagon is investigating Kelly.
How many more heads will roll when Hegseth finds out the UCMJ doesn’t say what Leavitt claims it says about following illegal orders?
Any former JAG officers out there? It seems to me that if you were ordered to investigate someone for the crime of accurately reciting the law, that this would be an unlawful order and that the JAG officer would be obligated to not follow it. Right?
This is coming to a vote here in Georgia at our Public Service Commission. On the heels of Dems taking two of the board’s 5 seats in the November election, they’re trying to get this one through before the Dems are seated. Our bills have already been jacked up to pay for the way overbudget nuclear plants they built, and now we’ll have to pay more for fucking data centers.
He will shrug his shoulders and move on to some other travesty.
Here’s one comment from a former JAG, but I doubt he’s a TPMer:
“As a former Air Force Judge Advocate General, I take the issue of unlawful orders very seriously. I cannot find a single example of an illegal order during this administration, but as a Member of Congress, I believe you owe it to the country to be specific as to which orders you believe are unlawful." - Sen. Lindsey Graham
LOLOLOL
It’s nice to know that Lindsey has looked at every single court-martial that has happened this year, personally validated that none of them involved a superior officer giving an unlawful order, and confirmed that the defense department doesn’t really need a jag office, because everybody is following the law.
It really makes you feel warm and fuzzy that there are people like Lindsey gaslighting us.
