Pennsylvania Officials Sue Rogue Counties For Refusing To Certify Election

The GOP attracts the disaffected, opportunistic con artists, anarchists, white nationalists, and others who think accountability applies to others but not themselves.

Your logic is sound, however the corrupt Roberts court has unilaterally decided that the Supreme Court has sole jurisdiction in state election issues because they contribute to the federal election. (Bush v Gore, 2000)

The State Legislature gambit that republicans are pushing now says that ONLY state legislatures can interpret state election law, that state supreme courts have NO ability to review state elections, state ballots, or state election laws, and that any issues must be adjudicated in the federal supreme court.

It’s bonkers - and so are the Republicans pushing it.

Disband the Republican Party. Institute a continuing House committee to identify and interview anyone suspected of ever belonging to the Republican Party or of being sympathetic to the Republican platform if indeed anyone can discover what it is.

This is scary because it may presage what we’re going to see in coming elections.

Part of their (and Putin’s) goal is to simply undermine public confidence and faith in democratic elections throughout the U.S. and it’s working :frowning:

When SCOTUS rules as expected on Moore v. Harper next session, these people will win. The expected ruling will give states much more latitude in determining which legally cast votes can be thrown out and it will tie the hands of state SCs, making it very difficult to impossible for them to intercede.

xcopy pretty much answered your question, but if you want the same answer in different words you can read a recent Paul Krugman column. From that column:

From Krugman’s article about recent Supreme Court rulings:

“For party fealty is, of course, what this is all about. Anyone who believes that the recent series of blockbuster court rulings reflects any consistent legal theory is being willfully naïve: Clearly, the way this court interprets the law is almost entirely determined by what serves Republican interests. If states want to ban abortion, well, that’s their prerogative. If New York has a law restricting the concealed carrying of firearms, well, that’s unconstitutional.”

Krugman’s entire article is in the link below.

I do wonder how long these malefactors are going to stay in office. They don’t seem like the kind of people who would stick to a public service job very long.

Also, if they’re own election isn’t certified, doesn’t that mean they are out of a job?

Great suggestion. Turn them into present-day Know Nothings.

Republican state legislatures will appoint future Presidents if SCOTUS validates the independent state legislature doctrine.
