Pence addressed the rioters, stating, “to those who wreaked havoc in our Capitol today, you did not win.”

Um, Pencey, if that mob had gotten their hands on you bad things would have happened. They brought a gallows. What are you going to do about it, and about the guy who gave them directions to the Capitol building?

Loeffler has a lot of freaking nerve speaking on democracy.

Surprised by ol’ Mitch’s sensible comments. Schumer spoke well. Bennett crushed it, but loeffler - JFC, what a tool.

Fucking hell. NBC and ABC are in their primetime programming with the Senate hearing and are only giving airtime to the ‘conspiracy’ Senators when they speak, then when Senators calling out this bullshit start to speak and call out the bullshit the networks are cutting away to talk wonder amongst themselves how could this bullshit keep spreading…Just fucking hell.

Trump’s combination beer hall putsch and Reichstag burning did not work out for him. One of the House Republicans who supported Trump’s objections to Joe Biden’s victory, Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-Spokane), has changed her mind after seeing the Trumpist mob up close and personal:

“What we have seen today is unlawful and unacceptable. I have decided I will vote to uphold the Electoral College results and I encourage Donald Trump to condemn and put an end to this madness.”

We will not be kept out of this chamber by thugs, mobs or threats,” McConnell added. “We will not bow to lawlessness or intimidation.

We will ask these selfsame people to keep donating to our campaigns and remember to vote for me come next election!

Nah, he’s been gaslighting all day, like he has no idea where any of this came from .

Well I think this riot is a greater offense against democracy than the made up crap I was going to complain about but I want I you to know I still believe that crap.

Just stop with all speeches and count the election results! Jesus Christ.

There is so much more important work to do now, namely impeaching, removing, arresting, trying, and convicting Donald Trump…

Do not get me even a little bit wrong, Pence fucking sucks, but I can think of any number of Trumposphere characters who could have done much worse than he’s done today.

You are apportioned six hours of uninterrupted time with Mother. Use it wisely.

She is the worst. The worst.

Her campaign was a travesty of racism, which was matched only by its unprofessionalism and fascism.

Good riddance. That she lives near me makes my skin crawl in anger.

Pence is one piece of shit but he’s not stupid and he can read the tea leaves. There is NOTHING left for him in praising or defending Trump. There’s a chance, slim as it might be, that he can rehabilitate himself by chastening Trump so expect it. Pence was never loyal to Trump. He was loyal to himself and went about that by a show of loyalty to Trump.

The GOP formula was to rally and wrap up the rubes. They did that. But the rubes acted like rubes and here we are. I expect MAGA is now dead. As is any further objection to the election’s outcome. I think it’s CBS running a bit about the Cabinet having 25th Amendment discussions. They better. There is nothing left in being loyal to Trump but political suicide. If they oust him they may save a little bit of face.

Or, are these speeches really the going-on-the-record preamble for senators’ votes on removal from office, when Trump is impeached again?

Good point. I don’t think we need to worry about any more Trumps on any ballots in the foreseeable future.

Mitch, you got at least 12 Senators and 120 House members who I consider the above.
