Vice President Mike Pence applauded Oklahoma on Tuesday for what he called a “tremendous amount of progress” in battling the coronavirus pandemic and slowing the spread of the virus. But there are data points showing a spike in COVID-19 cases in the Sooner State, where President Trump is scheduled to hold a rally this weekend.
And yet, in spite of these broad claims about diminishing risks across the country, the Trump campaign was wise enough to make an announcement on Friday warning attendees that they would be required to sign a waiver freeing the campaign from any liability should they become infected with the virus during the event.
Trump Campaign’s action speak louder then their gaslighting.
Gee, it feels like February again…odds are we are heading into another upswing in cases because Republican leaders are no longer taking this seriously or trying to protect people. There’s ample video of people ignoring any of the steps that help protect from the virus, and we’re seeing a rise in cases and hospitalizations. At this rate, August is going to be really ugly, and people are going to have to go back into shutdown to keep this from running completely wild.
The sad thing is that it’s not clear Republicans care…how they think campaigning on the economy with people sick and dying is a winning plan is beyond me.
Yes Pence, you sure are winning. Just like the winning you did in Indiana that led a mostly red state to send you packing. Any more of your “tremendous progress” and we won’t have a country left!
“Pence also swung at networks that “like to publish maps, they like to show entire states blocked red as cases are growing” — suggesting that those maps were a kind of hyperbole.”
Yeah, he sprinkles in a lot of that earnest choir boy vibe that his Christian followers love so much.
I have said this before - right after the election in 2016, if you read the Facebook posts of the local LDS community (my wife does this onerous task for us), you would have thought Pence had been elected president. He is a complete cipher of a human being but he helped bring the Christian right vote solidly behind Trump and so far it hasn’t left. And it never will as long as they see him as anti-abortion.
I believe that whole incident was wildly misinterpreted. It was the fact that the liquid was water and not diet coke that made Trump use the 2-handed alcoholic shakes drinking style.
