Pence Blasts Pelosi Over Ripgate: ‘A New Low’ | Talking Points Memo

On Wednesday morning, Vice President Mike Pence slammed House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) for tearing up her copy of President Donald Trump’s State of the Union speech the night before.

It’s clear the contrast here was a president who spent an hour and a half making the speech about America

At least we know Pence has picked up Trump’s skill at lying without shame.

Pence predicted that Pelosi is “going be the last speaker of the House to sit in that chair for a long time.”

Wait…WTF??

Is he announcing they are disbanding the House of Representatives?

Pence was already dead when Trump tapped him.

So ETTD does not apply to him. It’s more ETTSD

Nancy was speaking for all of us. They shred the Constitution. They shred all political norms that govern how the president is supposed to behave, and that keep our government in balance. And now we’re supposed to be polite? She shred a speech full of lies. Truth to power, snowflake. We’re aren’t in Missouri anymore!

Most Republicans have had that skill for decades.

Would you be at all surprised?

No, sir. The media will make hay over this all day today until the vote comes later today to acquit someone of the charges they admit were true, but it’s ok because he is the President.

This is the day that will live in infamy: the day the Constitution was rendered invalid on the topic of impeachment for the foreseeable future, if not forever. The Senators have already indicated how they will vote.

Could be that…or could be that “that chair” was the one beside Pence last night…or another authoritarian fantasy of Trump.

The ominousness of the statement was the intent.

The low is that Trump and Dense are still in office.

Yeah, but consider this: He couldn’t even speak the threat properly. I’m guessing he meant it would not seat a future Dem SOTH. He thinks or portends that the GOP will take back the House on her actions.

Good luck with that.

The Constitution was declared invalid as long as Republicans are in control. If we Democrats do our job right, that will be only until next January.

I fixed it for you, Mike.

It is a shame the way people act when there is nothing left for them to defend.

It’s as much IF we do our jobs as will we be ALLOWED to do our jobs.

Don’t put it past the GOP that they would invalidate the election and throw it out if it didn’t suit them. Don’t put it past them. This is one time I think they could try to do it and would make it stick.

ETA: I mean, there’s an impeachment trial about to end. Twenty years ago, could you imagine a Senate so craven?
