Pence Aide: July Call Was Unusual | Talking Points Memo

The political nature of the now-infamous July call between President Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky reportedly stuck out to an aide to Vice President Mike Pence.

Odd that everyone on the call except the President had a bad feeling about this, even the ones who were sure that nothing illegal happened…

How do you know when Mike Pence is lying? When he is breathing!

Of course the call was abnormal; everything Trump does is completely abnormal.

Didn’t Anonymous say Pence would sign off on 25A?

But Pence has been thrown under the bus by the target of the 25A…thereby ensuring that the Thugs-R-Us will aid/abet his criminality because = Acting Potus Pelosi!

I think you should ask for Vice President Pence’s conversation, because he had a couple of conversations also,” Trump said…

Sounds a lot like she’s trying to keep Pence’s Shultz Defense* intact. I wonder how long it will take for her to “adjust” her testimony.

*Shulz Defense: n., a defense often invoked by high-ranking Republican politicians and officials when confronted with evidence of Trump’s lawlessness. Often includes the phrase, “I know nothing! Nothing!”

Yet Pence is trying to thread the needle so he can ascend to the presidency. Can a animatron tie itself in knots? We shall soon see.

When the Dam breaks it won’t matter what answers she concocts. Just Felony Raps.

Which makes his behavior “Trumpnormal”.

Although Williams’ nightly notes made note of the call and the transcript, CNN reported that she testified that she was not sure whether Pence had read the transcript.

What’s the ETA on Williams pulling a Sondland? Because it’s coming.

There seem to be a few professionals scattered in the West Wing who actually might have some prior government experience who knew none of this followed protocol and none of it seemed above board. My questions for them are, did they say something when they saw something? and if they didn’t, why not? I actually worked in OEOB years ago in support of a member of the Cabinet. I know how intimidating it is there–have to protect the principal(s) at all costs. And when your principal is deep into the shit, what to do? Unfortunately, many of these people are too junior to squeak, or too seasoned to care. The entire block of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue will need to be fumigated.

Seems like a bunch of them did speak up. Lots of activity and discussions with the lawyers and others starting right after the call.

Hey, now.

I’ll have you know it was a “perfect” call. But if you read the small print, it says perfection is in the eye of the beholder. Your mileage may vary.

Personally, I don’t want to say it was an ugly call, but it was the kind of call only a mother could like.

Mother most certainly did not approve, especially once she found out that Pence was up to his neck in the shit.

Yes, I thought the call was abnormal but, no, I didn’t mention it to anybody. Beyond that I KNOW NOTHING!
