House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) on Wednesday refused to apologize for her remark the day before that Senate Republicans are trying to “get away with murder” with their police reform bill.
Derek Chauvin and Tou Thao — two of the officers involved in killing George Floyd May 25 — both took department training on preventing suffocating people being restrained face down, the Minneapolis Police Department confirmed.
“Mr. George Floyd’s tragic death was not due to a lack of training — the training was there,” he said. “This was murder — it wasn’t a lack of training. This is why I took swift action regarding the involved officers’ employment with MPD,” Arradondo said.
I’m glad Speaker Pelosi is the person leading the House at this moment in history. She’s sharp and is willing to speak the truth instead of pandering to Republican snowflakes.
““The fact is — people say: I think you in the press have given them far too much credit for a bill that does nothing,” Pelosi said. “You’re saying, you have (your) bill, they have theirs. Our bill does something, their bill does nothing.””
On today’s episode of “How the Zombie Fourth Estate Helped Destroy Amurikkka”…
“I’m sorry they didn’t wait longer before they let you quit wearing tails and bussing tables in the Senate dining room on the The Last Plantation, Tim. Fear of contracting the coronavirus from you is a weak excuse.”
Does that sound racist? If so, sorry. I meant it to sound discriminating, as in “A discriminating assessment of Tim Scott’s character.”
I know, so Scott is a missed marketing opportunity. But I guess if you are the sole black Republican Senator then you always win the Black Senate Caucus arguments.
Talk about putting on “Blackface”. Because that is exactly what Mitch McConnell and the entire Republican Party by hiding a bill that allows police to strangle Blacks behind Tim Scott. I also think Nancy Pelosi is doing a great job.
That said, what I wish Pelosi would say is that the Republicans are seem to be representing that section of America that approves of police murdering Blacks for the color of their skin and the Democrats represent Americans who want police murdering Black people because of the color of their skin ended.
Now now, let’s make time to hear pointless blather from all sides on this issue.
Black people feel about this the way I feel about hearing petroleum companies dissent on climate change, “Ummm, that’s nice but we’re literally being killed while you quibble, morons.”
I’m hoping that the Congressional Black Caucus comes to Pelosi’s defense by pointing out that Tim Scott was not the only GOP Senator involved in the bill – but that he is being used as a token by the GOP. And furthermore, declare that Tim Scott is obviously quite happy to be exploited as a token, and demand to know what kind of compensation Scott is getting for allowing himself to be humiliated in this manner?
