Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) made clear on Thursday that Congress will not let Republicans yank a bipartisan infrastructure bill away at the last minute.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) announced Thursday that House Democrats will form a select committee to investigate the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol by a pro-Trump mob, one month after Senate Republicans blocked an effort to form an independent, bipartisan commission.
āThis morning, with great solemnity and sadness, Iām announcing that the House will be establishing a select committee on the Jan. 6 insurrection,ā Pelosi said at a news conference Thursday morning.
They should keep hammering this point home: āWe are willing to negotiate in good faith with adults of the Republican Party. Unfortunately, there do not appear to be any adults remaining.ā
And Nancy says letās play some hardball. Thank you, Nancy.
Democrats have to make the public case, loudly and often, that the fascistgop is an enemy of democracy and they will never allow anything good to happen for the average American.
Pelosiās move may allow the House to avoid a dreaded Lucy-and-the-football scenario, in which a dramatically reduced infrastructure bill would pass the Senate with bipartisan support but without a firm commitment from centrist Democrats to pass a separate larger package via reconciliation without GOP help
.
Well said Nancy!
Put it in a scenario that even the GQPers can understand.
Actually, put it terms Manchin can understand. Heās had his chance to do bipartisanship and negotiation with nothing to show for it. And MoscowMitch has made it clear that the Repubs aināt playing ball. So Nancy wants Manchin to know that heās out of runway - shit or get off the pot.
Can I just be the one to point out that Charlie Brown actually did kick the football in the past. It was in the TV special Itās Magic Charlie Brown when Snoopy turned him invisible.
