Pelosi: McConnell Receptive To 1/6 Commission Until He ‘Dumped All Over’ It On Senate Floor

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) Thursday put the blame squarely on Republicans as to why progress has stalled on a commission to investigate the January 6 Capitol attack.

Gee, one wonders what they are worried that such an investigation will find.

McConnell has already expressed that if Democrats insist on an expanded scope potentially including former President Donald Trump and his GOP allies’ conspiracy theories that catalyzed the attack, he’ll push a focus on Black Lives Matter protesters and antifa.

Let him! Seriously, let him keep pushing the idea that BLM is some kind of terrorist group and that Antifa is an organized arm of the Democratic Party. Not only isn’t it true, anybody who believes that is already voting solidly Republican. So much of their race-baiting nonsense does nothing more than confirm what their base already believes and it only serves to make them crazier.

Sen. Roy Blunt (R-MO) shrugged off the need for a commission last weekend, saying on NBC that Congress could just investigate itself.

The Senator from Misery Missouri can go investigate himself, too. To be Blunt about it.

Caught an interview with one of the 9/11 commission members on NPR a few days ago but I can’t seem to dig up the correct link now. The gist of what he said was “there were lots of nutty conspiracy theories about 9/11, and far from steering clear of them – we welcomed them, properly investigated them, and then conclusively documented why they were nonsense, in the public record.”

That’s how you do it. So the 1/6 investigation absolutely should look into, for example, whether the violence was an AntiFa false flag op. And include the angry testimony from the RWNJs who were actually on site, demanding full “credit” for their actions.

I don’t know why Pelosi is still pushing for this. A 1/6 Commission with Dem majority won’t be perceived as fair and un-biased. Meanwhile, no Republican will support investigation of the lead-up to the insurrection because it directly involves the former (and still) leader of the Republican party. This isn’t 9/11 where the threat was outside the investigating body.

It would be meaningless without a discussion of Trump’s Big Lie about election fraud that started it all off, and that will never be allowed to happen in a “bipartisan” Congressional investigation.

Just forget it. Everyone knows what happened and why. Let the history books tell the story of what happened, after every Republican now in Congress is dead and buried, and can’t fight it any longer.

Moscow Mitch is panicking over possibly losing the filibuster. As always, he will lie, cheat, steal, and betray anyone and everyone to keep power.

Either the perpetrators have to be people of color, or we have to make the investigation about people of color. What’s so hard to understand about that? /sarcasm

There was a day when Republicant moderates were almost tolerable, but that ship sailed for good even before Moscow Mitch blocked numerous Obama picks for the Federal bench, then their idiocy and un-American behaviors were trapped for all time when Rump slithered onto the scene. They have no honor, no dignity, no sense of duty to the country, and they lie up one side and down the other. Just more of the same shizit. Honoring their orange wannabe dictator. Whining. Sniveling.

Meanwhile, contrary to the assurances of Sen. Blunt:

Georgia lawmakers pass sweeping voting bill that would curtail the use of drop boxes and allow challenges to voting eligibility

Oh goody, can we get their DNA?

“we”?? Maybe you can, if you want. The FBI already has it.

We don’t necessarily need a 9/11 type commission in this case since the insurrection of 1/6 was largely an act of domestic terrorism. As such the DoJ and federal courts are well equipped in holding the perpetrators responsible. Whether or not they choose to hold Trump and others in his orbit accountable, as well, remains to be seen, but they certainly have the authority to do so.

And as Speaker Pelosi is perhaps hinting at, she can appoint a House committee to investigate 1/6 with members of her choosing if she decides there’s no reasoning with treasoning Republicans.

That’s a great point! Calling his bluff by embracing the investigation of these claims could go a long way in ultimately debunking them. The more these idiotic conspiracy theories get debunked, the more the GOP base will become alienated from the rest of the country as they cling to them.

Absolutely.

Is it just me or has Mitch lost his mojo with the issuance of several weak and feckless threats in recent days? Or is it that the hand he’s forced to play is just that weak? Or both?

Bring it on!!! ASAP!!!

I don’t understand these people. Apparently they went to the bathroom -in the middle of an insurrection -to produce the feces they subsequently tracked throughout the Capitol. Wouldn’t it have been more sensible to have produced the goods earlier and brought it in sandwich bags? Or have used dog poop instead to avoid leaving DNA?
