Historically, presidents have been permitted continued access to intelligence once they are out of office. That would be a huge security risk once we finally bounce this one.

Don’t know how this can be done but I would like to see a new rule that an outgoing president needs to submit to a standard FBI security clearance review before they can continue to receive sensitive info.

This is what makes impeachment and removal from office such a strong desideratum. The Impeachment Clause doesn’t end with removal:

US Constitution, Article I, Section 3
Judgment in cases of impeachment shall not extend further than to removal from office, and disqualification to hold and enjoy any office of honor, trust or profit under the United States: but the party convicted shall nevertheless be liable and subject to indictment, trial, judgment and punishment, according to law.

I’m quite willing to have Trump supported by the taxpayers for the rest of his life, but I’d prefer it to be as an inmate of a federal prison rather than through the pension that an ex-president is entitled to.

Incorrect. Trump confirmed in his remarks that he had briefed two Republican Senators - Burr and Graham - and, pointedly, said he did not brief any Democrats. Changes the tenor of your comment, doesn’t it?

That information was missing from some of the stories. I think pyanfar’s larger point stands - the executive branch did not inform the legislative branch as they should have. Yes, Burr and Graham should have recommended that (if they didn’t), but it’s still the DT administration’s job to inform congress as an equal branch of government with some say in military policy and operations.
