This is what makes impeachment and removal from office such a strong desideratum. The Impeachment Clause doesn’t end with removal:
US Constitution, Article I, Section 3
Judgment in cases of impeachment shall not extend further than to removal from office, and disqualification to hold and enjoy any office of honor, trust or profit under the United States: but the party convicted shall nevertheless be liable and subject to indictment, trial, judgment and punishment, according to law.
I’m quite willing to have Trump supported by the taxpayers for the rest of his life, but I’d prefer it to be as an inmate of a federal prison rather than through the pension that an ex-president is entitled to.
The whole gang of eight should have been notified.
Hear, hear.
Yep. He just doesn’t have the executive functions that keep you from doing those inappropriate do-not-congratulate things most of us can remember not to do. If there were no other problem this would be enough to make him unfit.
Emphasis on flaccid
You’re a genius
Where can I buy one of those?
Where else, Amazon!
Love the irony of that…
The advantage of finishing his round of golf is that, had the operation failed, he could have feigned ignorance and blamed the generals. Once success was confirmed, he could proceed with the staged Situation Room photo op.
Sen. Burr, Chair of the Senate Intelligence Committee – who supposedly works amicably with Dem Vice Chair Sen. Warner – was among those Republicans briefed in advance about the operation.
Surely he was in position to insist that Sen. Warner be informed as well. Did he?
That information was missing from some of the stories. I think pyanfar’s larger point stands - the executive branch did not inform the legislative branch as they should have. Yes, Burr and Graham should have recommended that (if they didn’t), but it’s still the DT administration’s job to inform congress as an equal branch of government with some say in military policy and operations.
If he really was wiped out. Trump does nothing but lie and/or spew bs, why would I even think this thing would be any different.
