Pelosi Calls Barr A ‘Mess’ | Talking Points Memo

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) on Thursday railed against Attorney General Bill Barr but wouldn’t throw her support behind calls from fellow Democrats to impeach him.

Trying to impeach Barr would end the same way Trump’s impeachment did. Nancy is right. The ballot box is the way to remove this cancerous tumor on our DoJ.

Bolton: “I would testify against Barr, but I’ve got another book in the works.”

Yep…waste of time and the cost-benefit analysis indicates little to no benefit for whatever the cost might be.

And if they cheat well enough that Trump wins?

There is no reason not to open up some investigations. Keep Barr busy covering his own ass.

Pity. I understand why, but still it is a pity that the horribly corrupt can’t be removed from power. However, I would hope that the next administration would look into such things as “obstruction of justice” for starters.

The scrutiny of Nadler’s committee would reduce the electoral mischief that Barr can get up to — getting testimony and documents and then letting the full house vote against an impeachment trial if they think it is too close to the election might be a good course?

Why impeach a guy when the sentence is removal from office?

Why impeach a guy when the jury is corrupt?

Why impeach a guy when you can wait six months and then throw his fat ass in jail?

News of his death in prison will be so much more satisfying…

I wonder if Pelosi will change her tune when Barr announces investigations and/or indictments of Biden, Hillary, Obama and anyone else Trump is yelling about in October.

Voters want Democrats to fight for democracy. Even if we can’t get rid of Barr until January 2021, the House has to do something to air all his authoritarian laundry before the American people.

“One hundred and thirty one days from now, we will have the solution to many problems, one of them being Barr,” Pelosi said.

One can only hope that the Ds and Is will VOTEOUT the Rethugs and their Dear Orange Leader!

Pelosi has shown she got the balls and possesses shrewd political savvy but…

If Biden wins, will the new AG investigate Trump+Cronies+Family/Barr/Pompeo and all other gazillion corruptions by Trump MAL-administration?

If NOT, then there is no reason NOT to start Congress investigations now!

Concern of the election should NOT preclude concern for the erosion of the rule of law/USC and democracy! More so because Trump/Barr are doing a lot of their corrupt deals under the cover of the pandemic, when more Americans are more vulnerable than ever!

Addendum:

@AshaRangappa_

So Barr tried to interfere in a case that directly implicated Trump as an unindicted co-conspirator. How much more of this are we going to take?? IMPEACH BARR

OT: De Blasio can still go fuck himself, but he gets a thumbs up for today:

Meanwhile, so long as that horrible human being Danielle Outlaw runs the PPD, none of this matters, but at least they’re embarrassed:

Yes, and it is also the way to remove the Rethuglican cancers in the Senate.

Because if he’s busy testifying on the Hill, he might have less time available to do more damage?

Ok, just like last time. We’ll talk you into it, Madam Speaker. You can look reluctant.

And how is impeaching him going to change that? If Barr wants to start “investigations” to sway the election he can, impeaching him will not change that because he won’t be removed…the Republicans in the Senate just will not abandon him or Trump. And, it won’t make him less cautious or more worried about optics…Trump has only gotten worse since his impeachment, Barr would be the same.

The very best solution is to elect Biden, who will appoint people that believe in the rule of law, and then let them investigate the Trump administration and Barr. At the very least, a scathing report will come out that a Democratic Congress can use to create new laws to keep people like Barr from abusing their powers again. At best, they will find something to indict him on, and then we can hope Barr turns on Trump and spills all kinds of beans so the rest of the Trump administration folks can go to jail as well.

I’d say they’re enabling him, but he clearly doesn’t need the help.

Hi

Though i somewhat support a Barr impeachment inquiry or action, unless there are 25 Republican senators who are willing to convict (joining the minority), then why…

A second vote on the record to “let em off the hook” in the middle of election season might make for some good ads for Dems?
