my problem with a ‘bipartisan commission’ is finding Republicans willing to participate in good faith. I don’t think it’s possible.

We’ll see.

The commission was established on November 27, 2002 (442 days after the attack) and their final report was issued on July 22, 2004.

Let’s hope it’s as thorough, and at least as fast.

A welcome and necessary move. I’m very interested in the delayed National Guard response as well as the funding for the insurrectionists. And the coordination with current House/Senate members.

So much we need to learn.

This needs to be thorough, but also should be completed prior to summer of 2022

An automatic contrast to the GOP and what they will say and do.

I only see her statement about an outside, independent 9/11-type Commission, unless I’m missing something.

Good idea.

Congress should give the 1/6 Commission — which will look into Trump and his associates’ activities leading up to the insurrection — the power to make criminal referrals to law enforcement authorities. https://t.co/24nFp3mO6S

What we want is for 1/6 to be as well known in all its aspects as 9/11. It is hard to imagine that this would not be seen as just as important.

Her words:

To protect our security, our security, our security, our next step will be to establish an outside, independent 9/11-type Commission

As you suggested, “bi-partisan commissions” are a mixed bag at best. We’ll see what happens in this case.

I can tell you I’m not overly optimistic — and would prefer a … stricter approach a priori.

Cue the hysterics from Trump and his lackeys.

Would one year be enough?

I know where to find seven senators who will likely have time on their hands in the not too distant future.

Do we really need even half that.

How long do we need to come to the obvious… RW TV lies+ RW Radio lies + Trump lies = Insurrection

I hope the mandate will be as wide as it can possibly be. I want the barn door wide open.

Follow the money, upstream to the source(s).

How can you have unity when one of the parties might be under investigation by a so -called independent commission? Working together has to mean a clean slate…
Or some such drivel.

So much for unity, Madam Speaker…

Let the GQP whining commence.

And no redactions this time, right?

At least an outside bi-partisan commission would mean none of the current crop of R Chumpsuckers would be included, right? No Gym Jordan or Nunes, etc? Seems only Rs who have left govt. have been able to be honest and forthright.
