Clarification please. I believe I read elsewhere that as Assistant AG, Scott would assume the interim post via state law, not appointment. Yet I do see multiple outlets reporting the ‘appointment’ language.

The assistant AG is someone else, who would take over AG duties if Abbot does not make an interim appointment. Given that it now looks like the senate trial won’t be until august, I guess Abbot took the opportunity to install his own guy.
