Patience Wears Thin As Bipartisan Infrastructure Deal Hangs In The Balance | Talking Points Memo

I believe McSally ran against Mark Kelly in 2020. And thankfully lost. But Martha also ran against Sinema in 2018. I guess Martha just cannot learn that her time is past. She was my Congress critter for a while and was very poor at constituent relations taking sometimes 5 months to respond to emails. Yep, I do communicate to my Reps and Senators.

For some…science can be ignored. Or in the case of Sen. Inhofe utterly misunderstood. He thinks weather on a daily basis is the same as climate. He even brought a snowball into the Senate to prove his point. This being the case… there is a fair percentage of humans who just don’t get it As Adam Savage of Mythbusters said of Physics …“It’s not an advice, *It’s the law!!”

If one considers what was taken out of this bill in order to please the moderates and right, the only conclusion one can draw is the Senate will only go as far as their paymasters allow when it comes to “promoting the general welfare.”

There’s a subset of right-wing loons (particularly including “fundamentalist” mormons) that apparently believes in fraudulently obtaining government benefits as a form of protest/opposition to the government.

At least she coordinated her choice of color with the folder in the arms of the guy standing next to her.

Have you watched “McCarthy 3,2,1”? It’s really wonderful. His childlike enthusiasm for the music and his respect for the magic he and his mates created show him to be a good and down-to-earth guy and someone it would be a pleasure to be around.

Hey, watch that, Madame Crone! I happen to know for a fact that Sarah Unibrow Sanders happens to buy her trendsetting haute couture from world-renowned fashion showplace Little Rock Tent and Awning.

No I have not seen it yet. I found Paul to be “down home folk” when away from the trappings of celebrity. I liked their two Samoyed dogs too.

They’re just helping to make sure that those dollars don’t go to someone dark skinned undeserving.

I’m not going to debate you or anyone else. The gloom and doom and predictions of failure by certain malcontents and cynics are a fact of life here.

So discussion of momentous legislation which is on the horizon boils down to a discussion of what one of the too few female senators, in this case Sinema, is wearing. Why is no one talking about her missing jacket? Why are we not talking about her hair, her eyeglass frames? etc, etc.

Let’s talk instead about what a slob Rafael looks like since he’s gained what looks to be 100 lbs.

Actually I did post and comment about this in another thread.

And I do think Sinema’s attire goes perfectly with the “Preening Phony” moniker that Josh Marshall gave her. If people can talk about Gym Jordan’s missing jacket, her missing jacket is open to discussion too.

There’s far too much talk about women’s appearances, whether they’re senators or just ordinary Janes who we see everywhere and celebs in particular bear the brunt of criticism on how they look. We talked about Clinton’s pantsuits and gave short shrift to her brains and also hung Bill’s sins on her. Introducing Fat Ted into the conversation is not an equivalency. BTW Josh’s criticism of Sinema’s look doesn’t give the issue any credibility either. Find a woman, any woman, she’s fair game for criticism unlike anything a man experiences.

Think about the last time you heard of a man complaining that a woman told him he needed to lose weight. It’s happened to a a lot of women out of the blue, and it doesn’t happen to men. The jacket issue is in the same category. Here, woman, do what I tell you to do even down to your clothing.

And so ends the topic.

I largely agree with what you say. But Sinema is just a diva looking for attention any way she can get it and attire is one. And honestly, I don’t care if Gym Jordan doesn’t wear a jacket.

I should call myself skeptical or at least agnostic because my experience as a woman is that men treat me (and many women I know) like someone who still needs molding and also really needs to be talked to condescendingly. My private message to Josh years ago was this: “Can you do something about the sexism that is present in the majority of posts?” His thoughtful reply was “What the fuck can I do about it?” A friend and former TPMer wrote him the same message and not surprisingly got the same response.

If Sinema is nothing more than a diva looking for attention thant what accounts for the TV and other media appearances other Congressional women make and draw heat for, and I’m thinking about Collins who according to some here does nothing right. Face it. Men neither like nor admire women, and aren’t afraid of saying so and acting like it.

I looked this up a couple of weeks ago because there was another photo in which something weird was going on:

According to AZCentral:

Sinema recently injured her right foot while running a marathon in Washington state this month. Her broken foot was the reason, according to a spokesperson, that she missed a bipartisan dinner hosted by Vice President Kamala Harris last week for women U.S. senators. Her absence made her the sole Democrat and one of two women senators to miss the dinner.

Reddit users identified the device Sinema was using as an iWALK 3.0 hands-free crutch.
