Sadly, Parnas and “legitimacy” parted company by mutual consent ages ago.
Maybe.
I don’t think the revelations are quite over yet.
Stay tuned.
#MOB “ethics.”
Barr is the wild card in that scenario. He could act with integrity and honor the law and his oath to it. But I think he might be like the guy that’s sat at the slot machine all night, plugging it full of quarters, and now he’s too invested to walk away.
He’s locked in, beyond the point of no return. Upholding the law is no longer his primary priority. Insulating Trump from harm is.
You seem to imply that we just recently descended. The reality is that we have been down here for a long time.
Who went to jail for for starting a criminal war in Vietnam under BS pretenses? How about that one in Iraq? Was the President or any one actually punished for the Iran-Contra affair, you know that one where were selling arms to an enemy under sanctions and using the profits to finance an illegal guerrilla movement? The only @$$hole that got a slap in the hand, Oliver North (convicted of shredding the documents and lying to congress), is now hailed as the prototype patriot.
Worse yet, those responsible unleashing and waging a war that killed over 600000 Americans in order to expand slavery are now all heroes withe their names in military bases, buildings, roads and cities.
That much is certain. Trump’s crimes accumulate by the day. There’s a huge backlog of revelations.
Parnas told MSNBC host Rachel Maddow that he fired John Dowd, who previously served as Trump’s lawyer, and Kevin Downing, Paul Manafort’s ex-lawyer, after they visited him in jail and “started talking to me like a drill sergeant and giving me orders” instead of trying to help him with his criminal indictment for campaign finance violations.
Trump’s lawyers obviously learned nothing from consiglieri Tom Hayden:
Once again – Parnas is a mobbed-up goon, etc., etc. But his move for maximum publicity is consistent with what he learned in Russia and Ukraine. Bill Browder, the business associate of the murdered Magnitsky, openly said he sought maximum public exposure as a way of avoiding being quietly offed by the FSB. That also appears to be the strategy of perpetual presidential candidate Alexei Navalny. He is constantly arrested, but (so far) not killed, because he made himself into too big a figure.
We’ll see how that works out for Parnas . . .
I agree it is pathetic and sad. Not sure how it is going to play out about real jail time…Chump vs his toady underlings vs those even farther down who won’t toe the line.
I think Parnas and everyone else who fights Chump publicly wins. He is a weak, ego driven fukwad who can’t really win ANY real fights. So you have to FIGHT him. If you knuckle under, or try to keep things on the down low, or try to keep your head down or try to keep from pissing him off…you play right into his hands. If you stand up and demand he Man-Up you are on much better footing. Parnas seems to be taking that tack…not going to go quietly and I am going to stand up and say my piece rather than relying on Chump-blessings as a faithful underling. Of course, that is correct. Chump doesn’t allow for real loyalty or real rewards for loyalty.
Pelosi of course has stood up to him from day one. Since I can’t find a good Pelosi article to lodge this comment I will do it here.
If you listen to Bannon, and basically everything else every Chump loyalist and defender is doing…they admit the guy is a skeevy criminal and that NOTHING would ever be legit. Nothing would ever be defensible. Nothing would ever be able to survive daylight…even by the time of Chump’s first Monday in office. Those around him knew the whole election was criminally tainted, most of the inauguration too, and every single person Chump had surrounded himself with along with all the grifters he was attracting were nothing but trouble. Bannon’s reading of Pelosi “she is gonna take us down” is an absolute admission. You don’t say “the cops are gonna get us and we will die in jail” unless you are crimin.
My dream has been realized:
Thank you, lord.
Don’t make me laugh. Or cry.
Let’s not forget that the aspiring-war-criminal IMPotus is a MYTHOMANIAC with over 15k known lies in 3.5 years!
That said, let us also not forget that IMPotus is Individual1, -1, accused rapist and self-confessed sexual assaulter, for starters…
Recall pornstar payoff reaction of IMPotus wrt to Cohen…turned out IMPotus signed the payment checks himself from the WH!
So while Parnas is crook and part of Fraud Guarantee, similar to Cohen, he is the corrupt/criminal minion of IMPotus who decided to sing…
While Parnas’ revelations need to be collaborated…There are instances wherein his story was collaborated by IMPotus…”talk to AG Barr” for instance!
Just like Cohen, Parnas was asked by the IMPotus co-conspirators, enablers and accolytes to sacrifice himself. This begs the question:
Why are the RepubliCONS sacrificing themselves for a criminal?
Of course for obvious reasons…power, money, fear…
In the end,
- Voting RepubliCONS = Voting for CRIMINAL(s)
- Voting RepubliCONS = You are Criminal Enabler/Conspirator
The acid test on where we stand as a nation will be whether Trump is elected to a second term. If that happens I think it’s a very legitimate reaction if you question your continuing citizenship and start looking for somewhere else to call home.
IMPOTUS3 wanted his “Roy Cohn.” He got that and more with Barr. He also got John Mitchell with a little side of Senator McCarthy thrown in for good measure.
If the Capo goes down then the whole syndicate is unprotected. John Dowd, like the good mob lawyer that he is, knew that. And he assumed Parnas knew it. Parnas must have realized, dealing with Giuliani and Trump, who so quickly disavowed any knowledge of him, that this was actually a Fox weekend comedy-level mob and not a real one at all. The key issue is what can be backed up by transcripts, but right now it is adding a lot to the case for witnesses and documents in the Senate which is great.
Here’s Parnas. He sounds just like Cohen. Loved Trump until he didn’t.
Two sad men who sailed too close to Trump. Moths to a flame.
A cult of personality surely has taken root in the Republican Party, all in the name of retaining power by a dying minority.
It’s too early to make that assessment. He loses the protection of Barr and the DOJ memo about not indicting a sitting President after he leaves office, which exposes him to being charged with the campaign finance violations that put Cohen in jail. When information in his taxes and from other sources finally comes out, he may be hit with NY state charges that aren’t subject to a pardon from Pence.
It may be that he never serves actual time due to his age and health issues, and his lifetime Secret Service protection makes it more likely he’d be under some form of house arrest even if he’s convicted. Unless he loses that with a Senate conviction, which is doubtful. But I don’t think his life will be stress-free after leaving office.
Lev, Michael. Michael, Lev.
Parnas: Nice to meet you, Mr. Cohen. Did I miss the bus?
Klown Kar!
