U.S. District Judge Paula Xinis said in her order Thursday that “since Abrego Garcia’s wrongful detention in El Salvador, he has been re-detained, again without lawful authority.”
Xinis said that the absence of a removal order prevents the government from removing Abrego Garcia from the United States.

The United States is considering a policy that would require all tourists to hand over their five year social media history, every email address they have ever used, and the contact information of their immediate family members. This proposal raises serious concerns about border security, privacy, and freedom of speech, especially when it is clear that Donald Trump is targeting anyone who may be critical of him or the administration.
This policy would not only create fear for travelers entering the United States, it would also accelerate the us tourism decline that has already begun. Many Canadians are avoiding travel to the United States due to the growing sense of risk at the border, ice raids, denied entry reports, and the fear of being profiled for political views. The rise of 51st state rhetoric and annexation talk has further convinced Canadians that US Tourism is no longer safe or welcoming.
US media has ignored the real reason behind the us boycott and the us tourism collapse. It is not the economy, it is not tariffs, and it is not trade. The reality is that Canadians no longer want to travel to the United States because of safety concerns with CBP and ICE agents, rising politics driven hostility, and warnings found in every major us travel warning and us travel advisory.
If this new Trump proposal becomes official policy, the United States will push even more international travelers away, worsening an already collapsing tourism industry. Canada continues to watch these developments closely, as they affect trade, politics, and cross border relations.
