Pennsylvania’s top elections official has decertified a rural county’s election machines because the county allowed a company with no elections experience to access the machines as part of an early politicized audit.

The vandalism continues. When will we hold those responsible for these “audits” for the expense of replacing the machinery they ruined?

Is there an angle where counties that vandalize their voting machines can get the state to replace them? The tax base of most states is the urban areas…

Thankfully (sane) election officials are beginning to recognize that a “chicken” with a bushy red tail shouldn’t be keeping an eye on the henhouse.

Wouldn’t it just be easier / safer to just decertify the GQP as a political party?
I mean, before they do it to themselves?

Rudy and TFG should have to pay to replace them because they’re the idiots who started all this Big Lie bullshit in the first place.

When has anyone from the Republican Fascist Party ever once owned up to the damage that they cause? Ever? Good luck with that one.

But I do enjoy watching them implode

Oh I think honest, decent election officials absolutely know what’s bullshit and what’s not. But there’s a whole den full of assholes with bushy red tails who have the power to arrest the farmer and clean out the henhouse in the name of “chicken integrity.” “Why we foxes have to look over every single chicken and make sure they deserve to be in that henhouse at all,” their tongues slowly caressing their salivating fangs.

Read this as:
Before you acquiesce to an illegitimate, unsanctioned and unnecessary audit, recognize that YOU, the COUNTY, will be on the hook for replacing the expensive machinery.
I still maintain that the costs of these replacements should be borne by companies ‘running’ the audit, but that’ll never happen - they’ll declare bankruptcy first.

But “the county” won’t suffer the pain. The residents of shithole county will. The jokes elected to run those ignorant open air zoos will simply create an “election surcharge” and make the county residents pay for it, then just blame it on Biden or the Democrats and they get a win-win-win all around. But realize that this game is only effective because the average person in this country is a monumental imbecile. That’s the Right wing calculus every time - we can say anything to these people as long as it’s racist and anti-democratic because we are dealing with morons.

GQP wants: E Pluribus Pluribus
I came here to say the same thing. Those requesting the "fraudits’ should have to post a multi-million dollar bond to replace any equipment or documents that they touch.

The possibilities of that happening are fat chance.
Their entire mission is to contaminate voting machines, much like Diebold used to in olden days. These people want to ensure they commit mischief wherever they go to ensure GQP victory.
They can’t admit to this openly and the bond would indicate an open admission.

With this PA state senator and the crazy sheriff in MI demanding this and that, threatening counties with subpoenas, who gives these guy their authority? Is State Sen. Doug Mastriano the chair of some legislative committee? Does Mastriano represent some part of Fulton County? Even then if Fulton County is the county in which he ran for election then he would be able on his own to demand an investigation, and certainly doesn’t have the authority to demand anything from another county.
I just can’t imagine that here in St. Louis County, MO that our BOE would just knuckle under to a county sheriff or some state legislator nosing around the machinery without a court order.

In a county where Trump wins by 50% margin, you can assured that there are plenty of monumental imbeciles.

Honest to God. These people DEMAND an audit, mess with the machines/ballots and then are ‘surprised’ when their audit is declared bogus. They either really think people are stupid or they are.

Read this story in WaPo one of the commenters pointed out that counties don’t own the machines, they rent them. And this person wondered if like in Maricopa County the county will still have to pay on the original lease, and now on the second lease for the second set of equipment.

Would be a kind of justice if their machine-ruining hijinks spark a return to paper ballots.

Rendering voting machines unusable following their fraudits is a great idea. It costs taxpayers a lot of money to replace them, which “fiscally responsible” Rethuglikans will scream about replacement costs while denying the electoral boards funding.
There is simply no end.
