First, this was unconscionable on the part of the gerrymander party. Second, given the high death toll in pa, and now spread into Republican rural area. This is a good hammer to use.

Republicans made Covid-19 political with their Anti-mask and re-opening, and grannies’ gotta die for the Dow campaigns, And having gone there they need to be made to pay for taking wing-nut stances on something that 85+% of people are justifiably scared of.

Sounds to me like assault with a deadly virus…

Criminal. You don’t withhold life-and-death information from people based on political party. I don’t have words to express my disgust and outrage.

Havent there been prosecutions for knowingly infecting people with HIV?

Just sayin’…

I know there must be a specific psychological term to describe this kind of behavior, but I’m going with “fucked in the head”.

There seems to be a huuuge case of pass the hot potato in the PA Republican caucus. First Rep. Lewis didn’t man up and inform the whole legislature of his infection. Second the leaders of the Republican caucus are trotting out HIPPA, which I will admit to not being knowledgeable about the legal points, but Republican leadership are not medical professionals, and second they are not Rep. Lewis’ employer.

If he didn’t think it was important, why did he tell his republican counterparts?

Well that will do if you’re nonreligious, but if you are then I’ll add that this kind of behavior shows that you’re fucked in the soul.

Excused absence as opposed to unexcused absence?

I’ll be honest. I want those fuckers to drop dead. I really would celebrate. I draw the line at trying to hasten things. They don’t.

Some of us remember the 80’s when you had some Republicans freaking out and calling for the forced quarantine of AIDS patients. Now it’s we don’t care about communicative disease at all.

I wish there was a more selective virus.

HIPPA only means that your medical information cannot be shared or disseminated without your consent. It is not a non disclosure agreement. This man had every obligation to inform his colleagues, but chose to put them in danger of exposure.

Ghouls.

I quote Chapter 27 - Assault - from the PA Criminal Code:

§ 2705. Recklessly endangering another person.

A person commits a misdemeanor of the second degree if he recklessly engages in conduct which places or may place another person in danger of death or serious bodily injury.

We have lots of asshats here in PA.

Seriously doubt HIPPA or any other rationale will excuse Republican leadership’s unethical conduct. This was an assault, and should be prosecuted under the same laws as AIDs carriers who engaged in unprotected sex w/o notifying partners’

HIPPA law is a tattered fig leaf for these people. That law applies to medical institutions/personnel. so that confidential patient information is not shared w/o the person’s knowledge or consent. This would not apply in the case of infectious disease, for which there are laws mandating reporting. I used to do STD contact tracing, so most likely this is a violation of laws or regs. Of course, the repubs don’t care.

There is no prohibition against ME making MY medical information known to anybody of my choosing. And Rep. Lewis could have shared the information with the speaker, who could have then informed everyone potentially exposed without naming names so they knew to isolate and get tested.
